"Trump resigns. Pence pardons him" . . . . . . . really?

What's in it for Pence?

Serious question. What does Pence get out of this plan? Politically, it will kill him. So what is it? Money? A personality? A Mother replacement in Russian blonde?

Really . . . . . what's in it for Pence?

Trump resigns after getting a promise to get a pardon.

Pence becomes president.

Pence refuses to meet Trump or take his calls.

So I don't think he would do that. He'll threaten to expose other Presidents by releasing things to use to hurt them with, to get off. He'll threaten to try to get a deal, which I don't think that should ever be done, or others will do that too, but he'll try.

Nixon was able to barter that Ford would be President for the rest of his term. Trump has no such bargaining chip to offer (unless, God forbid, he wins again).

He'd be subjected to a long and invasive investigation regarding public corruption and bribery. The quid pro quo in that scenario is glaringly obvious on its face, and Trump would likely not be able to resist announcing it to the world within the first two weeks.

It would be utterly satisfying for Trump to resign, in hopes of a pardon, and for Pence to refuse to do it. That would be magnificent.

The base of that party controls it. If Trump was convicted of crimes, he will be seen as a martyr. Pence would have no choice but to pardon.

my understanding is that by taking a pardon, its an admission of guilt for the crime, and I dont know how you can admit guilt for a crime (or crimes) that have not been disclosed at the time of the pardon.

The pardon of Richard Nixon (formally known as Proclamation 4311) was a presidential proclamation issued by President of the United States Gerald Ford on September 8, 1974. By it, Ford granted to Richard Nixon, his predecessor, a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes that he might have committed against the United States as president.[1][2] In particular, the pardon covered Nixon's actions during the Watergate scandal. In a televised broadcast to the nation, Ford, who had succeeded to the presidency upon Nixon's resignation, explained that he felt the pardon was in the best interests of the country and that the Nixon family's situation was "a tragedy in which we all have played a part. It could go on and on and on, or someone must write the end to it. I have concluded that only I can do that, and if I can, I must."[3]

RNC support and funding to run or the Senate. Support of Trumputin's base. Support of Putin for a run for Prez in 2024.

The good part is if Vance actually does his job and indict Trumperstein, because a presidential pardon doesn't cover state crimes like tax fraud, money laundering ...

1) He will forever be the 46th President of the United States. He joins an elite club of amazing leaders and despicable scoundrels.

2) The undying gratitude of the Republican party who will be desperate to cover up overt complicity and corruption.

3) A nice cushy lobbying job as thanks...that will include a pension and all the trappings. He will live a life of relative luxury without a care in the world.

If you think Mike can't be bought...as they say...you don't know Mike.

Since Trump is more likely to start spilling his sour guts in lock-up, it is in the best interest of the Republican Party that Trump get a full pardon on federal crimes. Of course, that primes the states to prosecute him, so Trump would be on the first plane to Russia where he will live in obscurity until it's convenient for Putin to give him the Navalny treatment.

Their real criminal liability will be in State courts. When Trump is in Attica we can get Orange is the New Black v2.

I always come back to the RNC hacked servers and how none of those emails where never released. Yet you have all these republicans still stand by trump, they are all compromised... Before Trump resigns he will pardon everyone to heal the country, and then resign, Once Pence is president he will pardon trump, to also heal the country...

thats the ace in the hole that the Russians (and by extension, Trump) has over the GOP.

I suspect the Russians got really juicy things on Ron Johnson. The WI Republicans were running the RNC at the time of the hack.

He’s too boring to ever run for President. Even senator is unlikely. I don’t think hoosiers would elect him to senator or governor.

His future is speaking gigs and lobbying jobs. Maybe some republican president would nominate him to the supreme court. Sorry to say that last bit.

His motivation is being considered “in with the cool kids” at the top of the gop and business. At least as much as mother allows him to.

History books. Lists of Presidents. Given his modest intellect, that would probably be enough reward for him.

President Pence. Sounds nice, if you're Pence, even if it's only for three months.

If Trump loses the election, he will resign and scarper, I'm certain. Pence will pardon him, too, as payment for getting to be President for a couple of months.

A little reward that comes at no cost to him.
