I think it's all overkill at this point. Yes, I'm in a swing state.
I'm swatting away texts, emails, and even calls. Not so much printed material, yet.
There's just no way to turn a trumper, and the rest of us are already determined to vote. It wouldn't help.

I have unsubscribed from all of them several times and it never sticks

(11,522 posts)I sent back a text saying I am voting Biden and straight dem then block number.
My husband who is not into politics made me promise after 2016 I would not volunteer like I had on other elections. So since I do the bills I sneak in donations when I can.

(1,977 posts)Sorry but that sounds like an awful situation. You had to promise your husband you wouldnt volunteer? You have to sneak donations?

(11,522 posts)And it creates arguments. He will go off in a rant about how awful America is but he doesn't want to do anything to fix it.
I worked on Kerry Campaign, Bernie Campaign, Obama campaign, and Hillary at the end. I put in a lot of hours and did bring it home and did get upset a lot.

(90,913 posts)Several years ago I was getting almost 50 a day, I kid you not. Every petition I signed, every donation I made, every letter I wrote triggered this spam. I unsubscribed to ALL of it, over and over, and in a couple of weeks my intent had registered & it stopped.
Since then, I will make donations, but I have given up signing petitions entirely, because every one of them ends up as a plea for a donation anyway. But the direct non-petition donations are all intentional on my part, and done with the knowledge that I will have to eventually do some cleanup.
Best of luck.
I quit the petitions or sure, they are begging for donations and no one pays any attention to them anyway...The repugs don't care and the dems are already doing most of that stuff

(2,196 posts)Anyone who is claiming to be "undecided" at this point is lying and plying us or is just plain stupid...And it is a waste of time talking to them anything we can say has already been said hundreds of times and they have just ignored it

(6,858 posts)Now Im running over people whove received a million calls and theyre tired of hearing from me. I actually spoke with a lady who was another volunteer who had just finished her own calls.
The Obama model called for multiple contacts to each voter. I think were there in Florida.

(10,014 posts)in the county to determine if they wanted an absentee ballot. I didnt get that call because Id already requested mine and the party knew that. I wont get the next call, for the ballot chase, because Ill submit my ballot the day after I receive it.
Campaigns and parties need to work smart and use updated lists so they dont bug voters.

(6,858 posts)Btw I just saw Fla Dems on my phone even though I walked my ballot through on Monday. Thats ok with me though. I dont mind if they call me 100 times!

(14,565 posts)That's great. Typically I don't receive much contact other than from my congresswoman Donna Shalala

Do you think they have too many volunteers or the volunteers arent being used effectively?

(5,546 posts)Just make it illegal for any political contact after you have voted.
People would be lined up down the street on the first day of early voting. Hell, I would like to go ahead and cast my ballot for 2022 while I'm here.

(28,888 posts)A lot.
I've blocked many of them.
Some I answer, but then the texts just get worse
and I have to block them.
That's OK. They're just doing their jobs.
We have to win this!!!

(14,565 posts)I despise texts. I'm on Tracfone and every text eats away one minute from my total that needs to last a full year
I've told very one of them I prefer emails. But they text me anyway

(8,344 posts)We are trying to get the less frequent voters to vote, and turn out our supporters. Voter contact wins elections. It is likely the reason Trump won in 2016.

(6,561 posts)Too much spam, so I'm not doing that any more. I am, however, doing post cards for GOTV. I believe those will be more effective, being hand-written and easily tossed without interfering in one's peace and quiet, and not filling up phones with crap. Not doing anything asking for money at this point.

(203 posts)There are very few "undecideds" meaning people that are engaged but could vote either way. But there are a lot of people that aren't reliable voters, who have never watched the news, much less a debate, in their lives. That can be persuaded to vote, and when they do, they generally vote for us. Remember, turnout in 2016 was only 61%. That's a ton of eligible voters that could be persuaded to cast a ballot.
