I have been thinking about this for some time.

First, it is desperately needed, from all accounts, as the entire building has a massive bug and rodent problem. Refurbishment could, should and likely would take it all the way to the concrete footings and start over. Just as they did with the Truman renovation, leave the outside - the facade - intact and standing, if for no other reason than symbolism.

Much of the electrical wiring inside the walls is of that late 40's vintage, from what I understand. Sure, they have renovated parts of the building over the years (They did part of the West Wing early in Trumpy's administration) but much of the physical infrastructure of the building, from plumbing to duct work, is over 70 years old. Redoing everything would allow the latest and greatest lighting, wiring, fiber optic cable and plumbing to be installed.

And lastly, how incredibly fitting would it be, as a way to provide some national catharsis, to remove and destroy virtually everything Trumpy came in contact with. Not just tent the place for termites, but fucking utterly gut it to remove the stench of incompetence he has spread through every corner of that building.

THAT would be a fitting epilogue for this presidency. Boot his ass out in an overwhelming and unprecedented landslide, and gut the White House for good measure.

The orange menace is like no other person who ever held that position. Probably most cleanings between presidents is routine. All I can think of with diaper don, is the bathroom and his gold toilet. Those workers will need haz-mat gear, and all.
