Diseases, illnesses, and natural disasters are all remarkably indifferent to my opinion. Really good people die of cancer or have their homes turned to ash in a wildfire every day. Happens to really bad people, too. Hurricanes wash small towns off the map with alarming frequency. None of those bad things gives a rip about my opinion, even though I really, really don't like them.

Whatever happens to President Trump because he contracted Covid-19 is unaffected by my attitude about the disease, Trump, or the designated hitter rule. My opinion won't make Trump sicker and it won't make him well. If it upsets someone that the disease doesn't care about my opinion, I'm not sure what that person is calling on me to do. If I'm prostrate with grief that Trump has Covid-19 or if I'm dancing in the street, it doesn't make any difference about how Trump and the disease are doing with each other.
