Am I in the vast minority when it comes to not having tats or nose piercings? Oh, and I have never dyed my hair and only have one hole in each ear and my lobes are not stretched out...

(20,234 posts)I don't have any problem with them on others, but I try to avoid things that hurt me.

(21 posts)and it seems that now the majority of people under 50 have at least one tat.

(21 posts)where people back then even considered it. Consider yourself very lucky! I have seen a few people who look to be 60 with them and I just don't like the look.

(23,671 posts)I misread that.
Seriously, I hate to think what these tatted up pierced in strange places people are going to look like when they are in their 70's.

(21 posts)The fad began in the '90s and some of the 30 and 40-somethings look pretty funny with those faded tats. It reminds me of the ex-Marines in their 70s with those old tats.
I have more respect for those who get sleeves rather than just one or two tats.

(33,688 posts)When I was growing up the only people who had tattoos were bikers, sailors and ex-prisoners. We wore silly clothes in the 1970s but were smart enough to grow up and toss them. I just do not get tattoos. They will look so unbelievably stoopid by the time these folks hit 50...

(15,708 posts)I actually thought about thinking about getting something on my ankle, but then realized it would look ridiculous on me so I dropped the idea pretty quickly.

(4,119 posts)I'm okay with tattoes and piercing, but I just don't get why anyone would want to stetch out their ear lobes.
Have these people not lived long enough to know that WE CHANGE OUR MINDS. Especially about styles and fads. It doesn't matter how much you love something now, how cool it is, etc.... when it's out...it's SO out! People loved bell bottoms in the 60's/70's....you don't see them wearing them now. Same with every fad. You look back at old pictures and laugh. So why do something so permanent and uncomfortable looking.

(39,343 posts)I've a scar on my wrist where I fell through a window when I was 12.
I've a 9 inch scar from the surgery to put my left shoulder back in place after it was dislocated during a fall while rock hopping on the 3rd day of my honeymoon.
I've a scar on my leg from the muscle biopsy in March where they diagnosed my mixed connective tissue/neuro-muscular disease.
What's that, you've a dolphin on your ankle? Give me a break.
