http://westashley.patch.com/articles/haley-detractors-launch-new-recall-petitionCould Haley Recall Effort Gain Steam with Legislation?
Several bills have been filed in the General Assembly to amend the SC Constitution to allow for the recall of elected officials as a new Recall 'Trikki Nikki' website seeks to generate public support for the move.
Now a group of purported conservative activists have launched a new effort to recall the governor with the website recallsc.com. The site, which consists of a single page laying out the case for recalling Haley, launched in December to build public support for the effort.

(10,479 posts)enough for them what on earth will an "amendment" to their constitution look like?

(12,799 posts)I'm not in SC, but these seem to be legitimate issues, even if originating with a conservative group.

(10,479 posts)It may be the only way to draw attention. Usually it is the opposing party that petitions. I wish we could do that to 5 members of the SCOTUS.

(9,740 posts)I read it as she let the environment take preference over businesses to do whatever they wanted. The rest seem like filler.

(12,799 posts)Though, it would appear that the argument with her is too little environmental regulation rather than too much.
COLUMBIA, SC --
Gov. Nikki Haley is defending the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's permit to Georgia to dredge the Savannah River, saying it was not because of a political fundraiser for her in Georgia before the decision.
-snip-
Since the Savannah River is the border between the two states, Georgia asked for an environmental permit from South Carolina's DHEC.
In September, DHEC said it would not grant the permit because dredging the Savannah River would reduce oxygen levels in the river enough to harm plants and wildlife. But the board granted the permit in November, not long after Haley went to a fundraiser for her in Atlanta that brought in $15,000 in campaign contributions.

(11,760 posts)As she was running she was always Nikki Haley, her name appeared on the Ballot as Nikki Haley, so now, as these no-necks suffer buyers remorse, they are trying to highlight her non-European background.
So, they will "Barack Hussein Obama" her........

(32,099 posts)They didn't want her there in the first place. She apparently created a lot of enemies in her own party while she was in the state legislature. A lot of them didn't support her during the election, which she barely won, BTW. Lots of mainstream repugs are having major regrets for voting for her. (The ones that didn't cross over and vote Democratic.) Most of that crowd voted for her for the sole fact that she had an "R" after her name. Serves them right. Too bad that mentality is screwing the rest of us over.

(32,099 posts)...that St. Sarah of Wasilla endorsed her. They didn't do their homework. Now, they have had their eyes opened to what a big, opportunistic zero this woman is. I'm not surprised they are pissed off at her, especially given the Romney endorsement.

(95,337 posts)Thankfully in Delaware we have a way higher number of registered democrats over republicans so we were able to keep Christine O'Donnell from getting a job. But I guess that wasn't hte case in other states.
because she endorsed Mitt?

(17,111 posts)Nobody likes her or wants to claim her. I didn't think it was possible to piss off the entire state.
The Teashitters have been disappointed with her lack of effort in seceding or something. Part of it is in the petition. The high salaries and lack of transparency have been issues. Endorsing Mittens was the final straw. She gave him the kiss of death.
Her first HUGE misstep was dissing Darla Moore. Moore is a home grown lady who is a millionaire. She has given her money in gobs to support education at USC and some at Clemson where her Daddy went. She is smart and well-connected. You better believe she or someone she knows is going to get Haley back, and it won't be pretty.
Haley has lied all over the place about everything. It has been easy to prove her wrong. She has done so much in secret that nobody knows what she's up to, but they won't vote for it. She is hated more than our Appalachian Trail Guide who lived in the governor's mansion. That was a feat to accomplish.
That petition nails the problems pretty well, but it goes beyond that. She has screwed up so much and so badly that her problems are wide and deep now. I asked a friend who is well connected to politics here who was advising Haley? She said nobody. Haley is going her own way, and by Gawd she is going by herself now.
We don't have jobs or decent schools, but we do have neverending entertainment. It really is sad because a lot needs to be done.

(95,337 posts)I mean she did that in alot of states but with states like South Carolina, you really have no way of protecting yourself when nutjobs get picked in the primaries.
Sorry for your pain

(17,111 posts)had gotten a huge momentum swing right before Palin came. 2 idiots accused Haley of having affairs, but they never gave any proof. They had some ties to the good old boys running against her.
This really pissed people off at the whole lot of the GOBs who were running. I have heard Haley speak, and contrary to popular belief, she does have a brain. She came off as a decent choice instead of those other nimrods.
Palin didn't hurt, but her opponents had misstepped so badly that she was on her way and never looked back.
Turns out while she did have a brain, she also had NO political sense about how to get things done. SC has one of the weakest executive branches, and the governor has to be nimble and knowledgeable about the state to be effective. Others have been able to accomplish quite a lot.
Haley? Not so much.

(14,552 posts)Moore made the mistake of endorsing her opponent. One of the first things tricky nikki did was to remove her from the USC Board of Trustees and installed one of her campaign donors.
Moore stayed classy and responded by donating another 5 million to the USC Aerospace center.

From where I sit, this is really funny. I don't know what to think of Moore overall, but she knows how to get in a classy gotcha, doesn't she?
