Conjunctivitis is not often an early sign of COVID, tho it can occur later in the disease
Based on reasonable explanations here, it sounds like he has a small subconjuntival hemorrhage in his eye. A broken blood vessel on the surface of the sclera
I don't own a TV but if someone could post a picture I should be able to tell. There are dozens of things which can cause redness of the eye. An SCH is easy to diagnose. Usually folks freak out about it looks and have little idea what it actually is
There used to be a DU rule about posting medical stuff and I am often reminded what's his name, Bill Frist during the Terri Shiavo fiasco

(7,286 posts)But it is rare to be the initial presentation of COVID, very rare to be the first and only sign. And COVID pink eye is usually bilateral
Trust me I just when all thru this in the clinic
And yeah I know about the rules, just making a general observation about speculating on things one knows little about
But the fly now, that's something that everyone gets, hey

My concern is this: this March, when EKC rears its ugly head as it does, usually among kids in schools ( if there is school by then) . People may needlessly freak out
ZOMG my child has pink eye! He's got the Rona!

(26,629 posts)While coughing, fever and difficulty breathing are common symptoms of the illness, a recent case study involving an Edmonton woman and published in the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology has determined that conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis can also be primary symptoms.
GusBob
(7,286 posts)That case is similar to those I have seen in the clinic
Both eyes were involved at same time, which is very rare in any viral eye disease
Traditional EKC is monocular one eye first followed by the other after a few days
Nonetheless, it is diagnosed by a clinician under the biomicroscope. Not by looking at someone on TV
