(131 posts)I thought this might be coming. Biden's been getting closer and closer in the polls here, and sure enough Abbott goes and pulls this shady shit. But these obvious efforts to suppress the vote don't pass the smell test when brought before a reasonable judge.

(25,464 posts)Abbott already expanded on a Texas law that only allowed ballots to be turned in on election day. The statute is clear that each county can only have one election administrator and ballots can only be turned in there. It may seem unfair, but unfortunately the state laws are on Abbott's side in this case.

(31,261 posts)Election access should be proportional to population size, counties with more population should have more drop off sites and early voting sites, in proportion to their population.

Darn.
I could see the ruling be:
Provide more drop boxes.
But, then, I can also see the boards of elections just not picking up the ballots in the boxes. Just leave them there and forget about them until weeks later. Then someone cleans out the boxes under cover of darkness and destroys them.
Or maybe not since that could potentially hurt republican votes just as much?
I wish our election system was fair. This is just so wrong.
