(4,878 posts)No, Wolf was talking about other democrats who are urging for a deal now (Ro Khanna, Andrew Yang, etc.) instead of discussing the meaningful differences between the Dem bill and the GOP bill. Nancy was trying to draw the distinction between the two bills and how the GOP bill doesn't help the people, but helps the rich and Wolf kept following up with "what about getting the deal "relentlessly.
He was being an ass. He was basically blaming her for not getting the deal done.
Roland99

(9,952 posts)version and finally heard where some of the differences are. If you have not herd the long version you should give it a listen. One in particular Pelosi is fighting for is child care credit for all those that are having an increase because schools are closed. I am sure they want Pelosi to help them too and earned income credit though I don't understand what that will do honestly, while they have a greater amount going to the rich. They certainly should not be getting it. In the longer version Pelosi is also saying this is for retro and it was suppose to be longer but because it went from 3.4T to 2.2T it will have to be a shorter time. Which is fine if Biden wins and we take both houses. I would prefer the shorter time.
But those are two examples of what they want Pelosi to take out of her bill. I never heard how much an increase into unemployment though, so that might be a point too. The thing is, we are not hearing what Pelosi is fighting for and we really need to hear it.
I too am unemployed and going to start on my meager savings soon, so I hear you.
Demsrule86
(68,715 posts)It will be that much harder for Biden. We also will not make it to January. But I would say it no matterif that was not true...so many people getting evicted.forclosed on and going hungry. What good is school money when you are thrown out of your house and you kids are hungry? Priorities people. I say get what you can and get the rest in January.

(9,952 posts)Pelosi was very angry, but I was glad to finally hear a little m0ore what she is battling and the issue and whether she feels like something would be put together. She really needs to clearly spell out the differences. Maybe she has but I have been paying attention and have not heard it. This is the first time I have heard this much info.
I was impressed with Pelosi though, she is awesome.

(54,448 posts)She was a powerhouse (so was her daughter).
On my first trip ever to Europe, when she heard I would be in London at the same time she was, she invited me to lunch. She gave me the name of the hotel she was staying at, and told me what time to come.
So I went to the address she gave me--typical 16 year old in jeans, unkempt, etc. I get there, and there at the entrance are butlers in uniform whose noses point to the sky, figuring I was definitely at the wrong address. Frankly, I thought so, too. But I gave them my great-grandmother's name, and they reluctantly admitted she was a guest there. I only knew her as my great-grandmother, I didn't know she stayed at places like this! Crestfallen, the whatever-he-was brought me to my great-grandmother's table, where we had a delightful lunch of overpriced mediocre food in this incredibly swanky London hotel. I was delighting in all the stares of "what is the likes of HIM doing here?" I think my great grandmother was kind of amused as well. At the time, she was in her late eighties, what did she care?

(54,448 posts)My grandmother, the daughter of the one who invited me to lunch in London, got fired by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia as his labor liason in his New York City administration. He complained that she was too close to labor, and not close enough to him. So, she went to work as a New York fundraiser for the progressive Mayor of Minneapolis who was running for the US Senate from Minnesota. His name was Hubert Humphrey, and he had quite a career in front of him.

He (Yang) had that Chessie cat grin he always has and was blaming Pelosi for not taking a good deal from Trump (or so Yang termed it). I guess Wolf was lapping it up, because today he said something about Yang as if he was credible, and Pelosi scoffed at it. She was great.

(7,455 posts)Wolf tested her position on the negotiations. and her reply was basically that she is the expert and knows things he doesn't.
I like her but that's really not a good response.
AngryOldDem
(14,061 posts)...as well as his claim she was holding off in order to hurt Trump at the expense of the people. That, plus Wolf repeatedly citing two men neither of whom are in Congress as experts on why she should take this deal. Wolfs theory that any deal is better than none was also enraging, as was his subtext that Trump is acting in good faith.
I dont blame Pelosi for losing her patience. I dont know who shit in Wolfs Wheaties today, but that whole segment was undignified, insulting to the position of Speaker, and patronizing. She may not be at liberty to disclose specifics (hes been around long enough to understand that), and he never really let her talk once he got wound up.
Hes quickly becoming CNNs weakest link. That was truly embarrassing.
Shermann
(7,455 posts)He wasn't really pushing a theory, just asking questions. Nancy didn't reveal her secret information so he can only speculate as to her complete motives.
MrsCoffee
(5,803 posts)Give Wolf fucking Blitzer the benefit of the doubt and question Nancys motives?
Blitzer wasnt just asking questions. Are you kidding me? He was insinuating that Nancy was withholding money from the American people for no good reason. He wouldnt talk about how the fucking Republicans gutted any real help to people who need it. What a disrespectful asshole.
But yeah, lets pretend that Nancy was sus.
Shermann
(7,455 posts)Now you are watching a reporter question why Nancy is leaving money on the table.
Wolf asked tough questions to see if her footing was solid. Questioning why she didn't take a different position is not an assertion that she should have. It is testing power.
What questions would you rather she be asked given those optics? Softball questions about her piano playing?
If she can answer those questions on the show, then she should perceive the opportunity as a platform for her messaging.
I don't necessarily disagree with her but grade her handling of the situation as a C.
