They'll have the opportunity to comment (not on NBC of course; that's Chuck Todd's Centrist Space), but if past is prologue, Maddow might take the night off.

They are opinion pundits. Madow has stated that she sees her show as the op-ed page.

And neither claims to be. Journalists report facts without stating their opinions. Both Reid and Maddow's is to give their opinions. They may cite facts to support their opinions but it is still opinion. As I stated up thread Maddow sees her show as akin to a newspaper's Op-ed page.

39. Journalist state the news from their perspective ...

https://study.com/academy/lesson/what-is-journalism-definition-roles-issues.html

Journalism is a form of communication, but it's distinct from other forms. It is unique because it's a one-way message, or story, from the journalist to the audience. It's most unique because the message isn't the journalist's personal story or subjective thoughts. Instead, the journalist acts as a conduit, narrating an objective story about something that happened or is happening, based on his or her observations and discoveries. This type of storytelling comes in many different forms,

Journalism's unique storytelling comes in the form of reporting. To report simply means to convey the facts of the story. Even in editorials and reviews, the journalist is conveying facts about the experience. The story can be analytical or interpretive and still be journalism. In general, reporting comes from interviewing, studying, examining, documenting, assessing, and researching. New journalists are often taught to report on the five Ws, so you'll notice that most pieces of journalism include some or all of these:

snip

Journalism serves many different roles. Foremost, it serves to inform the public. It's an open medium, meaning the intended audience includes the entire community or public. Once the journalist reports the information - or sends the communication - that information is available to anyone wishing to receive it.

For that reason, journalism is an essential component in a democratic society. The freer the society, like the United States, the more news and information is available to the public. Citizens tend to be well-informed on issues affecting their communities, government, and everyday dealings. On the other hand, North Korea allows only limited access to independent news sources and almost no access to the Internet. The vast majority of news and information comes from the official Korean Central News Agency, which reports mainly on statements from the political leadership. This leaves citizens with only one, filtered point of view.

Sounds just like Rachael Madow and Joy Reid

You’ll be disappointed in them? The decision is above their pay grade and you want them to jeopardize their career for your comfort?

Give me a break. Every day they offer us the facts and the stories that need to be out there and that isn’t good enough?

I think they have both earned enough credit already.

NBC should be "our" version of FOX but it is egregious that they scheduled Trump's town hall opposite Biden's. And if FOX had done so every show host on MSNBC would be calling them out for it.

Many former tRUMP voters, including Republicans that cannot stand him anymore, might have recently switched from Fux Newz. Showing tRUMP make a bigger ass of himself with the same bullshit lines, gimmicks, complete failures, lies, corruption, etc. etc. will only reinforce their decision to leave Fux Newz and the Republican Party in favor of MSNBC and the Democratic Party that has it's shit together and actually does the work on issues and provides facts, instead of just offering lies, alternate (fake) facts, and bumper sticker slogans to chant.

tRUMP is losing ground rapidly, because even Republicans cannot stand the rotting dead hooker they are chained to and the toxic gas that he is putting off. The more people see tRUMP, the more people want him gone forever... That opens the door to people thinking about what the Democratic Party and Biden are offering, as opposed to the Republican Party and Fux Newz Dogma.

and didn't sound happy about it. But she also said that the Trump thing should last "1 hour" (implying that NBC might cut away if it goes long) and that she would be on at 9pm EDT like always.
