About this time in 2016...

I was inviting folks over to watch election returns.

I had champagne chilling, and the biggest bag of pretzels you ever saw!

Then my world fell apart.

I am pretty sure I am going to experience PTSD on election night this year. I think I am going to mix up a drug cocktail (Xanax - marijuana - wine maybe? not trying to kill myself..!) and just turn in early.

I will let my spouse update me.

Of course, it feels like we are about to experience something truly wonderfully epic. I also know there will be disappointment and the potential for heartbreak.

Thoughts?

some states will not even start to tabulate mail in vote until election day.

Trump will try to declare victory or fraud.

it's going to be a bumpy few weeks

My only hope is that the win will be so massive that it is obvious Joe won on election day

Biden wins easily and we retake the Senate by a vote or two.

I don't think we're going to pick off Senators like Cornyn or pick up states like Texas, so my expectations are already tempered a bit. Other than the races that are a bit of a reach, I think we pretty much win them all, similar to 2018.

Nate Silver's late warnings about Trump trending up in 2016 made me very nervous, but I still thought we'd win. I wasn't as surprised as some, though certainly as devastated.

Landslide for Biden

Trump will insist that we have to count all mail in ballots.

Florida counts it’s absentee ballots as they are received, unlike many of the other swing states.

So stay lucid and conscious at least until they call FL.

2016 was worse. But I--as I suspect most people on here do--have a history of some bad election nights.

Good ones too, though. I can't not watch.

Didn't think it could get any worse!

I kept waking up all night and every 2 hours it seemed to shift!

That was the 1st theft by Rs in my lifetime.
