For those of you who frequent the Drudge Report, you've no doubt noticed the articles feigning indignation and outrage over "secret" parties held at the White House, including a "Alice in Wonderland" party hosted by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. I'm sure that many other right-wing hatemongers have picked up on this meme as well.
Their "outrage" seems to stem from the fact that these parties were held in "secret" out of fear of public backlash during a recession. Indeed, if you scan through some of the reader comments, there are a lot of wingnuts expressing outrage that Obama is somehow "ignoring" the unemployed and working poor, and instead focusing on these issues. It's the same meme that pops up whenever the Obama family travels to places such as Hawaii, or if Michelle Obama happens to buy something they think is too extravagant.
My reaction to any right-winger who would bring these up: Now you're suddenly worried about the unemployed and working poor? Where were you when the Republicans were trying to deny extending unemployment benefits? Where was your outrage when the GOP wanted to RAISE taxes on the working poor, in order to afford tax CUTS for the wealthy? Where were you when the GOP opposed creating infrastructure jobs? You seem to oppose any legislation that would actually HELP those that you pretend to support.
