Elizabeth Warren Stands Outside Fenway, in the Cold, Shaking Hands. (PHOTO)

A little more than two years ago to the day, while locked in a tight race with Republican Scott Brown for the vacant Massachusetts Senate seat, Martha Coakley, the state attorney general, offered up the quote that no number of foreclosure fraud lawsuits will be able to wipe from her obituary. Asked about her hands-off campaign style, she pushed back: "As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?"

On Saturday, Elizabeth Warren, the Democrat who's challenging Brown in November, tweeted this photo:

That's Elizabeth Warren shaking hands in the cold, at Fenway Park, during a college hockey doubleheader. (Here she is standing outside Fenway, for you sticklers.)

I hope Mitt makes a stop in his old stomping grounds and tours around with Brown in his truck, the awkwardness will be priceless.

voting for Dodd/Frank.

Before it was changed to get Brown's vote, the too big to fail financial companies were suppose to pay a tax that would create a fund that would be used if a future bailout was needed. Brown insisted that returned TARP money (ie tax payer money) be used instead.

I assume that, though this is complicated, we will hear a lot about this it is not clear that Brown made anyone happy with that. The conservatives and the banking/Wall Street interests preferred that Dodd/Frank fail and there be no new regulations. In addition, one way to phrase what this does is to say that Brown, singlehandedly, already approved and funded the next TARP bailout - even as the conservatives still argue that TARP was evil.

At the time, I really really wished that Feingold - seeing the alternative - would have offered his vote and given a speech on all the shortcomings of the bill. This would have avoided weakening the Volker rule and saved the government this $19 billion, but it should now be turned against Brown.

Martha Coakley specifically derided standing out in the cold at Fenway, shaking hands (in those words), as a way to win votes. Then she, oops, called (creepy but talented) Curt Schilling a "Yankees fan." Honestly, that lost her the election.

Her loss wasn't a "message to President Obama", as they would like us all to believe. It was because Coakley behaved quite stupidly. She lost the seat all by herself.

edited for spelling

She would be a real President of the People. No legacy like so many have been, but most deserved.
