(25,471 posts)It might help with down-ticket races, however, particularly the ones being targeted to take back the state house.

(44,973 posts)The race is close, and with high turnout it's possible to win TX.

(25,471 posts)The problem is turnout, specifically Latino turnout. There are signs that turnout is lagging in places where we need it most. Bexar County (San Antonio) is behind 2016 levels while Houston, Dallas, Austin, etc., are setting records. Bexar has the highest Latino concentration of voters of any large city in TX, about double the percentage of Austin and way ahead of Houston.
If we don't get Latino turnout - and it's a problem historically here in the state - we're not going to win it at the presidential level.
The state house is another matter, which is why resources are being focused on the two dozen or so seats we need to hold on to or flip.

(2,966 posts)This is a battle for the soul of Texas, too, and Beto is a warrior and champion for our cause.

joe has more money than he can spend. maybe he wont take tx, but haeger could.
and they could pick up some house seats, and locals too.
it would be money well spent.

(4,845 posts)advocating for resource and time in Texas is untoward. Every state wants some attention and is entitled to ask for such, especially one that is close the first time in like forever.
LisaL
(44,973 posts)With two more weeks and an election day to go.
TX pretty much always was a state with low voter turnout. If they manage to improve that in their large democratic counties, anything is possible.
Harris county (blue) is early voting averaging over 100,000 per day.
If they keep that up, sky is the limit.
Claustrum
(4,845 posts)But I think Biden should spend time elsewhere because there are closer states that will flip before Texas. I think Biden should send a few millions and do some ads there because they have so much money though.
Afterall, I heard so much complaint about 2016 (including on DU) that Hillary didn't spend enough time in WI, MI, and PA. And now, somehow, we want Biden to spend time everywhere especially in a pandemic.

(2,753 posts)at 11 PM on election night. If we win it, no chance for Trump to whine and sow chaos about mail-ins. It will be over. Finito. Kaput. Sayonara. No mas.

(10,156 posts)Long game with Texas. Its gonna flip no doubt in the future. You need to have a candidate show he cares to visit here and plant the seeds. Biden very could win Texas based on early voting numbers
Midnight Writer
(21,753 posts)States don't flip themselves, and it doesn't happen overnight.
We may lose this battle in these states, but this is a war of attrition.
We need to keep swinging the hammer. Tear down these Red walls.

(2,406 posts)Nothing untoward about it. Just a Texan making the case that Biden could actually win Texas.
I'm skeptical that's true, but nothing wrong with the case.

Hope he did.
