(WLUK) -- For the second day in a row, Wisconsin set a record for new cases of the coronavirus.

More than 3,800 positive tests were reported statewide on Friday.

FOX 11's Maggie LaMere spoke with Dr. Brad Burmeister, an emergency doctor with Bellin Health.

On Friday, a third lawsuit was filed arguing Governor Tony Evers overstepped his authority with public health emergencies, mask mandates and capacity limits. When asked about this, Dr. Burmeister described healthcare workers' focus on the long-term outcome.

"The healthcare community has a unanimous opinion that these are important public health measures that we must follow to protect the elderly and vulnerable people in the community," Dr. Burmeister said. "We have a lot of pain and we have a lot of people making sacrifices with their livelihood to protect those people but we need everyone to be on board so we can get back where it’s normal, sooner rather than later. If we invest that upfront now and make those sacrifices I think our longer term outlook is going to be much more favorable.”........................................
