With Republicans largely abandoning mail ballots, Democrats in Franklin County have rolled up a huge advantage in the first two weeks of early voting.
The party of former Vice President Joe Biden has cast 34% of the early votes so far, compared to less than 10% for the party of President Donald Trump, an analysis of Board of Elections figures shows.
In 2016 at this stage, Republican actually led in the share of early votes, about 28% to 27%.
The local trend parallels that of the country as a whole. About 36 million votes already have been cast nationwide, calculates the U.S. Elections Project. Of ballots where registration can be determined, Democrats are dominating, about 53% to 25%.
The country's voters already have cast more than a quarter of the total ballots recorded in the entire 2016 presidential election, the elections project said.

(14,855 posts)Ohio still doesn't have the high positivity rate of other Midwestern states -- lower than all of Ohio's adjacent states except for Michigan, and lower than the MW states further west including Illinois -- the cases are growing here too.
Could be really bad in a couple weeks.
Correction: The positive test rate is lower in the hills of WV right now.

(44,974 posts)I voted by mail. OH doesn't make it easy to early vote in person. One early voting place per county, which is why we are not seeing huge early in person voting numbers in OH.
In my neck of the woods, if one goes by signs, there are lots more Biden Harris signs than Trump signs. Yes, it's a blue county, but I don't think I saw as many Clinton signs in 2016 around here. Biden is clearly doing much better than Clinton in OH. Whether it's enough, we should see soon.
