Reparations
To be sure, the biggest objection is pure racial animus. While we can't ignore that, we CAN work around it. People tend to think of reparations in terms of money. Largely, they don't want to pay anything, to incur any cost.
Okay, so let's start with things that cost NO money. I have a number of thoughts on this, but I want to start with something that is front of mind every election season, and this one is no different.
The Electoral College.
This anachronism was the result of a series of compromises made in the early history of our country. Among them, it was a way to assuage slave states by overcoming the power of the majority, which were not slave states. All these years later there is no need to give such power to the minority, the power that has been used, among other things, to continue to work against the best interests of the people asking for reparations.
Do away with the Electoral College and do it as a means of reparations payment.
