they can blame it on Biden being elected? Looks like their plan to me. Biden and Kamala ought to be explaining this during their stump speeches. Let the voters know that they are suffering now because Trump and the GOP want to make it appear that Biden's election will cause a drop in the GDP and the stock markets. They know damn well that if they were to pass a stimulus package now there would be more spending in the Q4 just before Biden took office and they do not want him to get any credit for an improving economy.
If they don't pass a hefty stimulus package in Nov. COVID will wipe out all economic gains and carry us to record lows as so many have lost homes and been evicted with little or no hope of gaining employment for months to come.

(29,149 posts)They can pass a strong stimulus and recovery package for Joe to sign, thus kicking off a legitimate recovery that will carry us through the midterms.
Sounds like a solid plan

(25,865 posts)package back in September, putting back the $600 extra unemployment compensation, with at least two more rounds of the $1200 stimulus checks to everyone. That would have boosted the economy and given many people a lot more financial security which they could then have campaigned on. Instead, they made it clear they don't give a flying fuck about the hardships of so many people. And that's precisely why so many of them are going to lose once the votes are counted next week.

(34,661 posts)failure to pass because of 20 Tea Bagger Senators will cause some major and ugly issues for about 40% of the Country. Today is the Anniversary of the 29' crash. How fitting.
And these 20 Senators could give a shit less about our Country, anything to show their hatred of a Female Speaker of the House. BTW,she did not cave.

(82,849 posts)And we know that the media will have no choice but to report that the Republicans are blaming the economic downturn on the Democrats as bona fide objective fact, and what is President-elect Biden doing about it? Nothing! Media eagerness to forget the last four years will be as appalling as their collective amnesia over the Bush the Stupider administration. Nobody knows why we have troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, but why isn't President-elect Biden doing anything about it? But if he does something about it, he's spitting on the sacrifices already made, and he doesn't support the troops like the Republicans do.

(11,940 posts)These $1200 payments are not nearly enough. A stimulus of at least $15k per person and a $25 per hour minimum wage would be a good start.
Taxing all income over $200k by 50% should pay for it.

(17,559 posts)The Republicans will be throwing Molotov Cocktails on the way out the door; it will be a scorched earth policy. When Biden takes office, there will be instant Republican demands, and outrage, that all of the damage isn't repaired by the evening of the inauguration.
