(5,557 posts)Every time I go back to sporting goods to see if the rotomolded coolers are on clearance yet, the locked cabinet seems to be completely empty.
(Seriously walmart, put the big coolers on clearance already!!)

(11,949 posts)We still use Igloo Marine coolers on the boat. A 94 and 72 quart. I cant even life those pricy coolers that are that size. Not with ice and fish in them! And not over the gunnels.
Plus the price of those things is off the chart!
Have a nice evening.

(5,557 posts)I got one last year for around $50 (75% off), but gave it to my wife's uncle as a christmas gift.
I'd love two of them for when we have big family gatherings - which I'm hoping we can do again next year. Covid isolation has really made me miss having mini family reunions one or twice a year.

(11,949 posts)Had to buy it. Got lucky and took 3 deer and a hog. Needed a 3rd cooler to carry the meat 700 miles home and there are not many coolers available during deer season in Rural Arkansas. All they had was Ozark Trail. Its not all that great in my opinion. Probably holds cold better than my Igloos and at $179 not horribly priced. But it is still a chore to lift when full. Of course I dont camp and am never unable to re-ice every night.
Have a nice evening. Eventually there will be one sale.

(11,949 posts)I pass on more shots than I take. If Im not sure it will quick I dont take it. We often have to reach out over 200 yards.
I hate sloppy hunters.
I dont trophy hunt. Find it distasteful. I hunt for the best and healthiest meat in the world. And because I dont want others doing my dirty work.

(11,949 posts)Im glad we are finally to a place on DU where responsible Democratic gun owners and hunters can talk about it. There are a shit ton of us. Almost every democrat I know owns a gun.
Our Platform clearly states owning firearms, with reasonable restrictions, in protected. And I strongly support restrictions.
Ive never understood other carnivores condemning hunters. Vegetarians can fire away. Im cool with it.
But is someone eats meat and condemns me for hunting they are a hypocrite. They pay others to do their dirty work. I have a BS in Agriculture. Ive been in slaughter plants. The suffering the deer and hogs I shoot pale in comparison to commercial meat. Not even mentioning the health difference. And the taste!
Because of COVID I cant hunt this year. My family deer camp is not meeting because at 54 Im one of the youngest. And Im pretty much out of venison. 2 back-straps left in the freezer. More meat free meals for me. Luckily we catch tons of fish and I like seafood better than red meat.
You have a very nice evening.

(2,971 posts)various calibers for which I have firearms, and slowly accumulate a stockpile for each. Needless to say, now is not such a time, so I'm glad I have what I do.
As for what constitutes reasonable restrictions, it's safe to say I disagree with most here on that particular subject. While I appreciate older firearms, I also enjoy modern designs.
Regarding those who condemn hunters while enjoying their Big Mac, we're 100% in agreement. Sorry to hear you can't hunt this year, that must be frustrating.
Have a good one, and enjoy the fish!

(2,971 posts)Seeing .38 Special range ammo go for $50 a box makes me glad I stocked up on all my various calibers some time ago.
And as I look at an ammo search engine which goes through dozens of websites, there are some gaping holes. .30-30....nothing, not a single website has it in stock right now. Of course, there's always Gunbroker.com, where people are asking....$50 to $80 a box? Good grief...

(3,492 posts)People are price gouging but there is almost none to be found on the regular market. Every website and local gun shop has nothing. .223, .38, 9mm are impossible to find at standard prices. Theyre talking back orders to February.

Also avoid Lowes and HD. We have a great Ace hardware. Locally owned. I have no doubt the owner is a republican. But at least the money stays in my community.
