Two people were charged Thursday with multiple felonies after police found explosives in a van in Philadelphia amid unrest in the city over the death of a 27-year-old Black man, Walter Wallace Jr., by police officers.
Brian Larue and Eric Murray have each been hit with three felony charges, including possession of weapons of mass destruction, conspiracy, and risking a catastrophe, along with several misdemeanor charges, authorities said.
These individuals who have been charged today tried to use a message of justice to provide cover for their own gain, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a statement Thursday. This is an incredibly challenging time for communities in Philadelphia, across Southeast Pennsylvania, and around the country. We will not allow criminals to hijack, and take advantage of, lawful protests as an opportunity to sow chaos.
Also found in the van were quarter or half sticks of dynamite, a handheld propane tank torch, a taser and various tools, including electric drills, bolt cutters and machetes.
Authorities said those types of tools are used to dismantle and steal money from ATMs, which has happened at least 11 times since Monday, Philadelphia officials reported.

However, one officer recognized me this morning who is a patient in my office, said hello, and mentioned to me during our conversation that the real reason for the police presence was that, and it was publicized, a rental truck had been stopped with bad license plates and was found to contain a large amount of explosives. Apparently the federal government investigators are looking very closely at this, because it is believed by some that there are other individuals so situated with destructive devices.

(4,787 posts)...While responding to a burglary alarm Wednesday night, Philadelphia police spotted a group of 10 to 15 staged vehicles in the City Avenue Marriott parking lot. They then witnessed the vehicles suspiciously leave the parking lot as a unit once police arrived.
...Police chased after the convoy after they first tried to ram a Target parking lot barricade on 4000 Monument Road. The chase then continued down I-76 toward Center City and ultimately ended on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
...One of the fleeing vehicles, a conversion van, pulled over. The driver, identified by investigators as Larue, then removed tape that had been covering the license plate. Officers then stopped the vehicle and Larue and Murray, a passenger, were both taken into custody, investigators said.
Philadelphia Police and the ATF discovered Larue and Muray were transporting illegal explosives known as a quarter or half sticks of dynamite, a handheld propane tank torch, a taser and several tools, including electric drills, bolt cutters and machetes. The men were then taken into custody and charged.

Explosions have hit 50 cash machines in and near Philadelphia since the weekend, and one man has died, in a coordinated effort to steal them or take the money inside, authorities said Wednesday.
A 25-year-old who's accused of selling homemade dynamite on the streets with instructions on how to use it on ATMs has been arrested, though authorities aren't yet sure whether the man is connected to the coordinated effort, the state attorney general said.
Police earlier urged businesses that host the machines to remove cash to discourage further thefts, one of which resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man hours after he tried to break into an ATM early Tuesday, authorities said.

Sounds like these folks caught yesterday were planning on liberating a little cash from some ATM's if there's civil unrest.
You have to dumb down your thinking to low life level to understand what's going on in parts of Philly.
