Hillary was pretty positive, but Trump actually ran a decent campaign, even running to the left of Hillary on matters of war and trade, people "in the middle" saw Trump as the "non" Politico and they could project whatever visions they had onto him. He was a scumbag, but just "not being Trump" was not enough for Clinton.

Now it is. What we've gotten is a petulant incompetent boob as President, governing further to the right than any candidate well EVER despite the fact he lost the PV by almost 3 million people. Basically we got Ted Cruz with more bluster, bravado and tweet storms. And laced in it all is a complete intolerance for anyone who does not bow down and kiss his ass. He's now putting Democratic led cities in the cross hairs, making threats against political adversaries, basically acting like a fucking unhinged authoritarian. This is motivating Democrats and moving non partisans to our side as well.

Hillary was right that Trump was dangerous, but enough people in 3 states did not believe her. So it was basically a politician (Hillary) saying "stuff" to get elected. In the end, turns out she was right (and her words were probably even understated) and now Biden is running against that stated truth Hillary ran on and enjoying more favorable success than Clinton did. In short, the positive spin works in light of the level of negative insanity going on right now.
