No posting polls from sketchy polling outfits.
No post about early votes in Florida or Nevada saying that Democrats arent voting.
And other doom and gloom posts....I want to come to this site looking for positivity.

(36,926 posts)over the last 20 years (God has it really been 20 years? No wonder I feel old.) Anyway I feel as positive as can be but I also remember other times when that positivity turned sour. That said, I very strongly believe were gonna have an awesome night next Tuesday!

(47,468 posts)Basically I'm 99.9% positive it is going to be a landslide win for us on Tuesday, but the last twenty years has tempered my enthusiasm a bit. It comes from learning to never trust a republican politician. There is no limit to how low they will go to win.
I'm trying very hard to stay in the 99.9% mindset. At this point, it would serve no purpose to start second guessing everything.

(53,032 posts)What are you doing to contribute to the victory? Or is your sole mission to thought police?
Believe it or not, Putin's primary interest isn't your feelings. The Russians want to stop people from voting. They aren't saying work like we're 10 points behind--because that's Biden. They aren't encouraging others to GOTV. But promoting complacency does benefit Trump and the Russians.

(53,032 posts)about the election is working really hard to turn out the vote. https://www.mobilize.us/
How many shifts will you be doing this weekend?
Because the number 1 danger to a Democratic victory is pretending the Democrats have it in the bag. Joe says we run like we are 10 points behind, but according to some that makes him a troll. Joe doesn't know that actually turning out the votes and winning the election is less important than making some voters feel good. Silly him.

(8,168 posts)Not to be guilted into thinking we're somehow not single-handedly pushing Biden across the line.
BainsBane
(53,032 posts)who are working their asses off but are nervous, that's okay. Calling them Russian trolls is okay.
The chief beneficiary from the "we have in the bag" ethos is the GOP because its danger lies in promoting complacency rather than hard work.
I care a lot less about "de-stressing" than actually winning this election, and if we are to win, we need all hands on deck. But I keep forgetting the goal is not to actually win but to make you feel good. For some of us, the only effective de-stressor is getting Trump out, and that takes work. https://www.mobilize.us/
This is not an entertainment site. It's a site for Democrats. If it can't be used to organize, what's the point?

(8,168 posts)Perhaps you forgot this has been the most anxiety producing year in history?
I can see you're going to dig your feet in further as you've chosen this tact based on a seeming "offense" that you've taken to my position, but inside you know my point is valid and that hundreds here agree with my point of view.
BainsBane
(53,032 posts)I know yours is a comfortable position. I just don't find it productive. Clearly our priorities are different.

(16,387 posts)Call me crazy, and hear me out, but what if, and this is just a theory, but what if there was some MIDDLE GROUND between thinking we have it in the bag and completely crapping our pants with fear?
What if theres this place, and again Im just spitballing here, but what if someone was simply confident that Biden will win, but still vigilant?
BainsBane
(53,032 posts)and have done so for months "Russian trolls" because we don't prioritize your feelings over winning is perfectly acceptable. If you're so confident, why do you feel compelled to thought police?
BannonsLiver
(16,387 posts)1. Theres NO middle ground.
2. If one is not shitting their pants with fear they are terrible Democrats who are overconfident.
Got it.
BainsBane
(53,032 posts)and you know it. No one is telling you to be nervous, but you have decided to call those who are Putin's trolls. You've obviously defined your role for the campaign. I happen to think working to GOTV is more productive than enforcing thought control. We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm comfortable with my choice because I'm doing everything I can to bring about a victory Tuesday night.
BannonsLiver
(16,387 posts)Berating people here who arent scared or crapping their pants doesnt seem conducive to what you say you are doing.

BainsBane
(53,032 posts)or whether we win isn't an important or serious subject to you.
If you're so sensitive to "berating," try not calling people Russian trolls. As I made very clear, my issue is not that you're not nervous, it's that you insult everyone who is.

(25,861 posts)they're going to steal the election.
A friend who lives in PA just posted this on FB:
I did post back asking what the specific requirements in PA triggered an automatic recount. And would the state legislature even be in session in November and December. Honestly, this sounds like the sort of bad and unverified information my friend is all too apt to post. He doesn't always bother to check facts, which is frustrating. He's been convinced all along that the election will be totally stolen, and is far too quick to buy into doom and gloom.

And hopefully DU will be up and running this year without hackers. The kindred spirits, searching souls and intellectual heft at DU is always important to me. We will be gathering around the proverbial fire pit election night and I just wish we can all share THE VICTORY on DU!!!!! VOTE..... VOTE .... VOTE KEEP 'EM COMING IN , bury the fuckers under an avalanche of ballots.

(1,328 posts)I was just thinking about this. Twitter suspended my account for saying police shot at protesters with rubber bullets (which they did). This was a true blessing. Reading Twitter posts sent my stress skyrocketing so thank you, Twitter, for breaking my horrible habit. I had been visiting DU for quite awhile but never posted. I now spend time here that I used to spend on Twitter, and it's because of how positive people are here. And how they require sources for posts. I don't get stressed out here. So I agree, let's keep it positive and hopeful and supportive.

Maybe some of those posting OPs about worries just are coming to this community for reassurance.
I saw this same scorn in 2016 when I was worried. I stopped posting because of it.
Calling longtime DUers trolls or Russians or bots? Sorry, not going for that.
