I remember that's happened at times in the past, as this pre-election 2016 post from Skinner explains:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/10137542
I need to remember to check the box to stay logged in before election day, too, since I usually log out automatically when I go offline, which might mean I couldn't even access DU to log in if those restrictions are implemented.

(67,800 posts)I hope the site is tightly restricted to Star members only on election night and maybe even the day before and a day or two afterwards.

(8,168 posts)Sure, I'm fine with that

(16,616 posts)So, would you log in the day before and leave the computer on all night, and not dump your cache?
I usually turn the computer off at night and empty my cache, and log in fresh early in the morning? Would that be risking that I can't log in on Tuesday?

(7,308 posts)It's coming. I can;t believe the same people who attacked last time won't try again, given that they got away with it.

I just tried it for the first time, went offline and then back online, and I was still logged in.

(13,998 posts)because I can't donate until I get paid on Nov 3. I literally have zero dollars in my bank account. But I do understand if they decide to go that route.

(4,305 posts)I am screwed, don't have a credit card, refuse to use my debit card online and then to make it worse to pay by mail/check you need to print a page and I don't have a freaking printer.

(4,305 posts)The people on DU are givers, I see it every day but this would be a lot to ask of them.
I have to say, I will cry if I can't get on. The place I was at before this closed shop just a few weeks before the 2016 election and it took me a year+ to find this place. It was a horrible year and no one to blow off steam with.
I understand why they would have to do it though.

(5,942 posts)Hello,
We've spent a great deal of time working on security solutions in the run-up to this election. Provided that everything holds up and DU operates normally on election day, anyone who is already a registered member -- Star Member or not -- will be able to access the site as usual.
Regards,
EarlG

(420 posts)and always check the stay logged in box but it always logs me out once I look at another page/site so I am logging in multiple times a day which gets old. I know this isnt Stars related, but does anyone else have that issue or know how to resolve it?
I like the idea of donating Stars and would definitely participate!
