(5,173 posts)but he couldn't work the system there, unless he had lots of money and lawyers.
And, he would not be able to complain about his host country. I don't think he is capable of that.
Would he be able to access his Presidential retirement benefits as a fugitive or asylum seeker?

(26,076 posts)There is no way to secure that area, it isn't the WH. All you need are a few boats and helicopters with shock troops and BOOM. They have them all. Good grief, we don't even have basements here because of the water table, and MaL is right on the water.

(10,252 posts)To make it very very difficult for the gov to operate. He might also sign more anti-environmental executive orders, like drilling in protected ocean areas and logging in national forests. He's such a vengeful hateful stinker.

This is more of a play for if he gets re-appointed. Less for if he gets deposed.

(12,165 posts)There is so much cleanup to be done already. Joe has been preparing to take this on. He is surrounding himself with competent people who he will delegate tasks to. There are people like Mayor Pete who are ready to go and have experience modeling problems and finding solutions.
All executive orders can be cancelled. Federal civil servants can be reinstated with their seniority intact. These things rest in the hands of the executive branch.
And Kamala. She will be able to get justice back into shape and take on the big strategies that Joe entrusts her with. And anything else because she is amazing.
Trump? He will try to wreck the country more, of course. He hates America. He has skewed the judiciary branch, but Joe has a strategy for dealing with that, too. Remember how DADT took a year to be consigned to the dustbin of history? That was deliberate and was a process so getting rid of it would endure; and it has. I see the judicial commission as taking a similar role with expanding the courts.
But come January, Trump will be gone. His awful cabinet will be gone. His stench will remain for sometime, but he will be neutered and done.

(90,690 posts)...in the face of what Ive been calling the New Jim Crow laws. Ive come to realize the diff between Old Jim Crow and New Jim Crow is that the new measures are designed to disenfranchise everybody who is not a MAGAt, regardless of race, creed, or color.
Most Americans are objecting and have been objecting since the day Trump was inaugurated. Loudly and in public, from Portland Oregon to Washington DC, in the face of billy-clubs and tear gas and rubber bullets.
We managed to change the House in 2018. Now we find out if we can change the diaper in DC and flush Don away.
Now we find out if the majority of us still have a vote that will be counted, or if we have lost that in the overwhelming efforts of the GOP to make sure we dont. Thus, coming back to your OP we find out if America, the concept and the country, is too stupid to live.

Let them have thier fascist dumbfuckistan.
And make it so no one from dumbfuckistan can set foot in blue country. Without proving they renounced the beliefs of the dumfucks over there. Let them face many tests, including character psych and sociopathy and authoritaian etc. Even than they'd have to prove themselves and have not broken laws.
I dunno if things go fascist I will still fight for democracy. Whether it is as one country or more.

(43,166 posts)They restricted voting rights to white men of property, appointed electors as wise elders to vote the will of the people, allowed legislatures to appoint Senators, and protected judges from short term political influence.
All systems have failed.
Elections are decided by last minute voters who know little of issues or politics. But they watch TV and text!

(1,291 posts)Biden will win if votes aren't suppressed. The question is how successful Dump's efforts to fuck with the mail, not count mail in ballots, purging voter rolls and other undermining of the process have been.
The said thing is, the only evidence of that is when the announced results don't match the polling and that happened in 2016.

(1,955 posts)The dirtbag is now talking herd immunity. 300 million people in the US. 70% would have to get it for the immunity effect. at the current mortality rate. that's almost 2 million people dead. This election IS about life or death. Biden will take this serious, and implement policy that will move us finally in the right direction.

Now we get to see how many of them can update their opinions based upon new information.
Honestly, I think the vote totals will be on our side, if we ever get to count them all. But the potential for obstruction and elector-certification chicanery worries me.
