in the actual fable, the emperor walks around with no clothes, and his tells everyone they are the finest clothes in the world, and everyone nods and agrees, until a child states the obvious, that he's not wearing very fine clothes, he's just plain naked.
history will have no problem declaring donnie insane. in fact, that history may arrive not long after his electoral thrashing next week, or perhaps it will wait until he's actually evicted from the white house in january.
but it's ridiculously obvious that he's barking mad, and it has been ridiculously obvious for years now. the question is, how has the media had such a tough time treating him like every other madman in its path? he should have been labeled insane early on and treated as such. rather than being presented as a plausible candidate for president, with evidence of insanity either quickly dismissed or treated as eccentric or well that's just his style or he sure knows how to draw a crowd or he's a populist.
"puppet? puppet? you're the puppet!" cried donnie during the debates when hillary stated he was putin's puppet. maybe "puppy" would be more accurate, but it's plain that hillary was right. but moreover, *who responds like this??* just turning it around and accusing hillary of being a putin puppet? there was and remains absolutely zero evidence of hillary being a putin puppet and it showed blatant psychological damage to respond by simply lashing out with a false, baseless accusation. there was some commentary on it at the time, but the media really didn't convey how much mental illness had been revealed by that point and how this phrase crystalized his insanity.
in media parlance, is "fit the narrative" that he's insane... except that that just wasn't the narrative they were pushing throughout the 2016 campaign, or since. but again, why? that should have been the running theme in every news story about him. the lies, the exaggerations, the denying unflattering reality, the desperate need for affirmation and adoration, everything.
it's late in the game, but it's not too late to start. the emperor has no clothes.
donald trump is insane.

(53,912 posts)they're getting there, though. once he loses and his career evaporates, i think they'll all be pretending they knew it all along.

(53,912 posts)that's delusional. it only appears less insane because he's others have been accommodating him.
but functional insanity (to the extent he can be called functional) is still insanity.

(6,448 posts)Mental issues need to be pointed out to those who have them. Jared Loughner didn't go around saying that he wished he were sane.
He just went around being Jared. The same is true for Trump. His insults are always directed at people who are normal compared to him.
Trump is the GOP monster that got Abby Normal's brain.

(16,616 posts)Donald Trump. Soon it will be out in the open, it will be openly discussed.
What is sad is how the media mostly ignored the psychiatrists, psychologists and mental health officials who have been saying this, the half-dozen or so books on this subject, and the organization "Duty to Warn." I hardly heard a word about the documentary #UNFIT, which lays it out pretty well. Hell, even Mary Trump in her bestselling book makes the case, but people still shied away from articulating the psychiatric diagnoses in that book.

(53,912 posts)donnie is actually blatant and obvious. in many real cases it can be tough to clearly determine if someone does or doesn't fit into this category or that because the lines can be blurry and behavior might not be clear and consistent and overt.
but donnie is so blatant and obvious, for instance he *never* apologizes. ever. there's no, well, he's reluctant, he can do it but doesn't like it -- no. he's just plain incapable of it. can't accept the tiniest criticism, ever. can't admit he lied even when he just did it, he'd rather deny he said it. he's crystal clear.

(17,192 posts)and I don't necessarily know/understand some of the allusions that others are using to explain/compare his behaviors.
Myself, I've thought of him as the 7th grade bully that was running for "class president" - name-calling, pouting, and denying anything that he said after being proven wrong.
BUT, all that being said, I'm gonna' go out on a limb here (san "clinical proof" ): - HE'S FUCKIN' NUTS - and so is anybody that votes for him!!!!

(53,912 posts)Part of the refusal to treat him as insane is oh, we're but psychiatrists, or oh, is it this mental disorder or that, or can you really say it's a disorder when he's clearly do successful.
I mean c'mon, he's bonkers! He literally wears clown makeup! And the hair!

(21,785 posts)I always thought it was bullshit when psychiatrists would say they "couldn't diagnose him without talking to him in person?
It's obvious to most of us.

(53,912 posts)He makes up crap and they insist they have to report it because he's president. Maybe they fact check some of it, as if everything he says should he presumed true unless definitively proven false. He's the most prolific liar in history. Why give any statement of his the time of day?
Any democrat who ever lied once, would be ruined. Any statement they ever made after that, the media would say, hey, you lied that one time, why should we believe you now, how can you possibly govern if people know you're a liar, etc. and they'd be toast.
But Donnie is constantly treated as if he's normal. Don't wear a mask during a pandemic? That's insane. An insane suggestion by an insane madman. But the media covered it as if it were a political issue, and here we are with another upsurge in Covid deaths.
Things would have been different has the media reminded people that this was the advice of a lunatic.
