Taylor Swift Is Finally Letting a Politician Use Her Music in a Campaign

After first breaking her political silence in 2018, Swift has become increasingly vocal about her support for former Vice President Joe Biden and his running mate Senator Kamala Harris in the lead-up to the 2020 election. On Friday, Swift also allowed a political campaign to use one of her songs for the first time, but it wasn't for the Biden campaign.

On Friday, California congressman Eric Swalwell released a video titled "Only The Young," which uses Swift's song of the same name, which was featured in her documentary Miss Americana earlier this years.

The video features Swift's song playing while videos of protests, police brutality, and California wildfires burn. It also features images of President Donald Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Lindsey Graham and other politicians (while Swift sings, "And the big bad man and his big bad clan&quot .

As the video continues, people going to vote, protests and clips of Biden, Harris and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg are shown as the song's uplifting chorus plays in the background. The words: "You've marched for four years. Now it's time to run," are shown at the end of the video before a bunch of hashtags, concluding with one telling people to vote.

Not a fan (teen girl lyrics never were my thing). But, her success could sway many of her fans to vote, and vote for Biden/Harris. All good and I will sing along to that tune.
