A friend of mine emailed me this morning with the news, and since I'm in warm, sunny Florida, I couldn't resist a chortle at his expense

62 and sunny - first nice day we've had in weeks. Hope it's an omen.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way.
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind.
It's gonna be a bright bright bright sunshiny day.

I think I can make it now the pain is gone.
All of the bad feelings have disappeared.
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for,
It's gonna be a bright bright bright sunshiny day.

Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies.
Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies.

We’ve been having snow and wind and chill here in Chicago the past few weeks. But Tuesday is predicted to be sunny and 58.

I can only recall that preternaturally beautiful November election day in 2008, when we were able to stand in line for hours with our tickets to enter Grant Park in the balmy evening. The results were far from known, and each state’s totals were passed down the line in hopeful anticipation. When 270 electoral votes were finally achieved, there were not cheers but collective tears.

I always thought that beautiful, and unusual, November weather was a portent ... of better times to come for the country. It could be an omen again.

Our first real cool spell of this fall. It is going to be cool, in the upper 60s, and sunny all through Election day - and for a few days afterwards if we need to protest in Tallahassee (where I am) following Biden's win.

Calls for good weather across most of the nation. Clouds and rain around Puget Sound and down to Portland, also clouds across New York state, upper New Jersey, Vermont and new Hampshire. Temps will range from highs in the 50s in the Rockies, to high 70s/low 80s in the Plains, but really cold weather in New England above Massachusetts' northern border.
