Survey: Nearly 2 out of 3 voters will cast their ballots early in-person or by mail, not on Election

With less than four days until the election and amid record levels of early voting, a majority of Americans say they're going to cast their ballots early in person or by mail, according to a new survey.

When combining those who are voting by mail (42%) and those who voting early in-person (26%), nearly 2 in 3 voters will be casting their ballot ahead of Election Day, according to a survey from the Democracy Fund + UCLA Nationscape Project.

Record high levels of early voting have been reported across the nation. More than 84 million people have early voted in this election, according to the United States Election Project. More than 23.3 million people have voted in person and more than 52.4 million mail-in ballots have been returned nationwide.

The survey showed a significant partisan divide among how voters plan to cast their ballot.

Those supporting Biden are more likely to say they plan to vote by mail (53%) than those who support Trump (29%). But Trump supporters are more likely than Biden supporters to say they will vote in-person on Election Day, 42% to 20%.

Not only because there are going to be a lot of people voting otherwise than at the polls on election day, but because it's pretty easy to guess who each bloc is going to be voting for. Therefore, the powers that be know that every mail-in ballot they prevent from arriving in time is going to benefit the current leader. The prospects for corrupt manipulation of the vote are higher this year than at any time in previous U.S. elections.

The big (two-part) question is: 1) How much of that is in-person voting (including ballots deposited in secure dropboxes or taken to elections offices versus mailed ballots) and 2) of those that are mailed, how many of them have already been received?

I am the 1/3rd who voted early with a mail-in ballot dropped off at a satellite location. My 2 sisters are voting "in person" at their respective polling places, although both are in townships that use hand-marked and scanned ballots whereas here in Philly, we have that nightmarish ES&S machine (that I hope to never have to use again ). All of us are Democrats.

I think people might be surprised at how many Democrats plan to vote "in person" because they have been scared off by the postal service sabotage by DeJoy. And as an example, today, I literally got a mail piece back that I sent to my church 2 weeks ago, where there had been no change of their address (and I even included their extended zip and the building has been there since the 1800s) over the past 30+ years I have been sending them things, where USPS claimed that it was "not deliverable" and they were "unable to forward". I am assuming then that they must have pulled sorting machines out of the mail distribution center that services the location.

Michael Li used to have the best election law/redistricting blog in Texas but was hired by the Bennan Center. Michael makes the case for 12 million possible votes in Texas which means that no one has any idea what is going to happen
