I have to give him credit - he really has not supported trump in any way, and neither has DeWine (thank goodness!)
But Ohio's Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose stressed that "election night results are never final" on the ABC News "Powerhouse Politics" podcast.
"This idea that election night is sort of this grand reality TV show where everybody gets to go to bed on election night knowing who won and who lost is just a flawed construct that's not the way it works," LaRose said during an interview Monday with podcast co-hosts ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl and Political Director Rick Klein.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that the winner of the election must be known on election night, saying during a rally in Iowa Sunday, "We should know the result of the election on November 3rd, the evening of November 3rd. Thats the way it's been and that's the way it should be."

That that!
(my apologies if I didn't post this correctly - I haven't posted an article since 2005 )

For the record, I was among purged...same address, multiple this is your precinct cards and my utility bills and my property deed and birth certificate and 20 minutes at the Board of Elections fixed that up.

(44,973 posts)So if OH is very close, we will have to wait 10 days to find out who won it.
And I am NOT a LaRose / Husted / DeWine fan (I've hated DeWine since freakin' Iran-Contra), but the early voting days were restored, 4 weeks worth, especially the Sunday dates - that was a big deal. Actually surprised me.
However, he did have something to do with the one-ballot-box-per-county policy. He said he didn't in an MSNBC interview, said it was due to rep. state legislature, but either way, that really sucked. Our (excellent) Sherrod Brown didn't like that, gave him hell. But I can't see - yet - how much damage that did.

And as a result we ended up with one drop box per county.

(1,725 posts)... and no, not feeling the need to praise him, just glad he said the "reality show" doesn't work.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Very glad that got corrected, but what a pain in the ass stress-load that had to be. Thank goodness that was worked out.
And yes, I posted below about the drop-boxes.

DeWine acted as a responsible man till the gop RW came at him, then he folded

Wear masks.
But - bottom line, he wont' interfere with what he perceives as free speech issues.
The difference is that Bide/Harris paid attention to his suggestions and Trump/Pence did not.

(1,725 posts)I was pissed, and I did blame him for cancelling the debate. But he closed schools not long after that - same week, I think - and NBA shut down that Friday. NOT praising him, but he did do a decent job on COVID. And lately, he was added to the Whitmer / Northam death wish list. Jesus.
