https://www.wmur.com/article/republican-les-otten-expected-to-be-first-in-us-to-vote-on-election-day-backing-biden/34555016

The first of the five registered Dixville Notch voters to cast a ballot, which will most likely be the first Election Day vote in the nation, will be Les Otten, an owner and lead developer of the Balsams Resort.

Otten is also a Dixville Notch selectman and, he said Monday, a lifelong Republican.

Otten ran for governor of Maine in 2010, losing in a GOP primary. He cast his first Dixville Notch vote in the 2016 first-in-the-nation presidential primary.

Otten said that despite his Republican roots, he will vote for former Vice President Joe Biden. He said Biden will be his first-ever Democratic choice for the White House.

It really is a destination resort - there's nothing else around it. If you're traveling to that area, you're going to The Balsams.

2020 midnight voting results for New Hampshire general election: https://www.wmur.com/article/2020-new-hampshire-general-election-dixville-notch-millsfield/34541057

FYI Hart's isn't doing it this year because of COVID.

...There will be precautions in place to help protect people from COVID-19, but this election, the 48 voters from Hart's Location voters vote from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Town Hall, instead of at midnight.

"Really, during a pandemic, we didn't see that there was any way to conduct it safely with the health and safety of our poll workers and voters involved," Dindorf said.

...In Millsfield, the 22 registered voters will gather at midnight at the Log Haven restaurant to cast their ballots.

"We have the room to do it here," said Millsfield election coordinator Wayne Urso. ...Everyone will also be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

...Millsfield normally has results about five or six minutes after midnight, but because of the changes, officials said it might take a little longer. The community has 16 registered Republicans, three Democrats and three unaffiliated voters.

Voters in Dixville Notch, Millsfield and Hart's Location cast their ballots as the clock strikes midnight on Election Day. But Hart's Location officials said they don't see any way to continue the tradition this year during a pandemic.
