Some sort of identifying greeting might go a long way. Something like 'Hi, I'm so-and so from the Michigan Dems. Is this Siwsan?
I kept getting these texts asking if it's me, and I had NO idea who THEY were. When you've had a stalker, like I have had, texts from unknown numbers asking me to identify myself are pretty startling.
Ok, enough of my stress rambling. For now, anyway.

(30,780 posts)I get those texts, too. I text them back and tell them I am an activist who has voted already. I ask them who they are. They seldom identify themselves in an answering text, replying only that they are a Democratic volunteer.
I don't like it at all.

(652 posts)One exception - I do read and reply to President Obama's texts. Just because I like him and I can. I know he's not personally monitoring them.

(8,168 posts)I've had fun with some of them, they love positive responses (as we all would). They're doing some great work!

(26,311 posts)But my whole history with a stalker is NEVER far from my mind. It's kind of my 'go to' reaction to mystery calls or texts. I worry the first time I let down my guard, it will all start up, again.

(539 posts)I'd be cautious as well! I would also never give out any information to a stranger, they already have my number and that's far enough. I have been perfectly willing to share who we voted for, when we voted, and how we voted but that's about it. Stay safe
And most of the time I reply even though I was hesitant at first... mainly thank you's.
