(36,379 posts)I'm switching between the local coverage and CNN and the local coverage is dire for Biden. But I have no faith that Australian political analysts have any great insight into US politics.
However this goes I'm revolted and disgusted by the Americans who support the dishonesty and cruelty of Trump. I think whoever wins theres a need for a denazificatiion program in the US.

(16,958 posts)People are individual and people are all different. Some react differently than others during stressful times.
And oh by the way, those of us on DU who were nagged about being skeptical of the polls and were concerned about a repeat of 2016 - well, I dont think we look so out of touch right now, do we?
Dont tell me to calm down. My life depends on this. People my age wont survive another term of Trump.
Democrats need a little fire. If they had more of it, they might win.

MI, OH & WI record in-person votes first. They open mail-in only today and count later.
Final results for WI are due in 5AM Central.

(25,355 posts)for the past weeks that it is likely that Trump will have a good showing in the beginning, but it is likely to level out and fade as mail in ballots are counted?
This is exactly the scenario that we were warned not to lose hope over. People were concerned that Trump would declare himself winner based on early favorable votes, but when all votes are counted, he will no longer have the lead.
I heard a PA election official earlier today saying that they will not have a count on mail ins until Friday.
Hang in there. It ain't over 'til it's over.

(78,602 posts)The closest I get to expressing the graphic violence I think of is saying that I'd like Eric and Don Jr. to serve as my son's sparring partner as he prepares for his next boxing match. For that matter, I'd bet my daughter that boxes would give them a lesson in the ring.

I mean, susan collins. john cornyn. And a close race for someone as noble, honorable, and intelligent as Mark Kelley against a scum like mcsally.
How can you feel celebratory about a nation proving that half of its citizens have no soul. After four years, this election should not have been even remotely close.

(1,910 posts)So much damage done by Trump that I thought we would have a blue wave. I think Joe wins but it will be tough sledding to try to undo the mess America is in after a close election. I guess I underestimated the utter selfishness and ignorance of almost 50% of US voters.

(4,037 posts)now have Democratic governors, AGs, and secretaries of states, Joy Ann Reid just said. The governors of Wisconsin and Michigan won't let Trump do some of what he did in 2016. They kept the Green Party off the ballot in Wisconsin and in Pennsylvania, so that's helpful.
Pennsylvania still has a Democratic governor. Some other places that now have Democratic governors are Nevada, New Mexico, Illinois, Kansas (Kansas!), and Maine.

(19,928 posts)I know, after 2016 everyone is wringing their hands and looking for Russians under every ballot box, but because of Donald Trump's pathetic response to the coronavirus absentee and mail-in ballots have not even been counted yet in the key states Biden/Harris need to win.
Go to bed. You're not going to get an election result tonight. Probably not even tomorrow night. Possibly by Friday we'll have a result. Then Trump's dumbfuckery will begin. It's going to be awhile. Relax.
