I don't know much of anything about statistics in general or polling practices in general, but I do know that there are theories about how polls should be conducted, and it's possible that the theories are no longer valid because of changes in demographics, cell phone contacts, or other factors. Maybe the statisticians aren't looking at polls the right way anymore. It just makes no sense to me that anyone, even a dumbass Trumper, would lie to some pollster who calls on the phone and asks who they're voting for. There would have to be a concerted movement to lie deliberately to have any effect; are that many people lying just for the hell of it, not caring if it made any difference in the poll? I don't know. But I do know that I'm going to be ignoring polls after this. And there will be a lot of analyzing by a lot of people.

liars on election day in 2004. The republican excuse was 'shy elephants'. These election they were named 'shy republicans' - those who messed up the pre election polls. My ***!

not so much intentional malice but more commonly fears relating to privacy or repercussions - shouldn't there be a way to factor into any poll the likelihood that some percentage of all voters aren't being truthful, weighted according to party?

There's clearly some fundamental mechanism at work beyond any single pollster's sampling methodology.

No way polls are off this much again. Russia figured something out in 2016 and they are repeating it. They are flipping votes, I will go to my grave believing this. No way did this many YOUTH turn out and vote for Trump. Look at the data of those voters turning out. This is ratfuckery.

repub-thug does not trust the media, so why would they tell the truth to the pollsters?

i never thought there would be a landslide because i don't trust the polls. the country is 50-50, when you go out in the public, any people you see on the street could be one of them. does not matter if they're blacks, women, old, young...etc

some of them may not like trump, but hates 'liberals' more.
