No more waiting for Trump to vacate the WH. Instead, White Christmas is here for me. Sounds racist, doesn't it? But, it's just a reference to snow.
Every year, I start earlier. This isn't even the earliest I ever started. I once started in July. I start by listening to carols. I love big band and choral arrangements, and cool versions of perenial favorites. I collect Christmas Carols, and often search for new material with zippy arrangements. I find it peaceful and comforting.
It's time to solve this plague problem. I think it's going to be something like HIV; you get it, and you're stuck with it. I don't think it's reinfection. I think it's just that you have it, and your body loses the control you had when you left care.
Those fatalists who aren't wearing masks because they think they can't "get" it are going to be surprised. It's like when you get chicken pox, and decades later you develop shingles. Eventually they developed a vaccine for that, many, many years later. That's what this is gonna turn out to be.
There is peace in research.
Do you remember Bobby Darin? That man was a helluva singer. He's singing Auld Lang Syne with alternate lyrics. "When mistletoe and tinsel glow..." Sweet...hey, I lost two inches off my girth just from this election. Everything is gonna be okay. Just need to stay away from Christmas cookies.

(6,573 posts)I put them all over inside the house. I think this year I'll put up some outside, but that is harder to do. But, why wait? Would make Thanksgiving nicer, too.
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one.

Lots of damage done, either way.
A hobby can be almost anything. Keep it clean, and don't start collecting anything large. You won't have space. Hobbies can be very soothing and healing.
Someone near me has a new horse. I swear, I've heard it twice. Sounds very close. I almost think it might be a prank. Maybe it's a new car horn, like the old Ahoogah horns you used to be able to add.
I'd really like to have a horse. Expensive, though. Buy a 5 cent horse and spend a thousand bucks keeping it happy. But, the two of you could go around and feel pretty good.

(9,275 posts)I play in a community band and sing in our church choir. Both activities on indefinite pause due to COVID. I know what you mean about animals. Id love to get a dog but DH doesnt really like dogs (he likes our granddog as long as he doesnt have to live with her) and we have 2 cats.

(15,392 posts)One even makes a contest out of it - when will we switch? I can honestly sit for an hour just reminiscing about past Christmases, and the music is a big part of that although there are about 10 songs/artists that drive me crazy (Leonard Cohen's, "Hallelujah," is not a Christmas song... PENTATONIX!!!).
I've often said that I know so many Holiday songs in all genres - pop, traditional, country, classical, Latin American, comedy - that I wish I had the money to run a radio station from November through December 25. I would allow no commercials, write a program to figure out a schedule of songs from a database so that not only did the same artist not get played more than once too close together, but the same song by different artists wouldn't either (Oh, good... a different cover of, "Winter Wonderland," a half hour after the last one). I swear I think both stations pick the same song they want to drive into the ground each season and wait until I'm in my car to play it. "Quick! TlalocW is in getting in his car! Queue up, 'Santa Baby.' I don't care which version. Just call the other station and tell them to do the same but with a different cover."
I would also hold a contest where the 7th person to call in on the ONE AND ONLY time I play, "Baby, It's Cold Outside," gets a prize - a fruitcake.
