Rep. Clyburn was always about winning. Criticized at the time in August, but very savvy today.

'Rep. James Clyburn Says It’s ‘Foolhardy’ To Demand Biden Pick A Black Woman As Vice President'

https://www.bet.com/news/national/2020/08/01/james-clyburn-joe-biden-black-woman-vice-president.html#!

[Rep. Clyburn widely credited with putting Joe Biden over the top].

[This is a very unpopular proposition, among some Dems. Some Dems would have, and came to close to, nominating 'you know who' as 'The Nominee'.

However, it was clear to many, like Pelosi, that 2018 was about winning - winning in the middle. 'Blue Wave' claims aside.
Better to win the middle, than complain about dumbness, etc., afterwards. Dem primary voters did not pick optimum winners for the Senate in 2020 either.

Joe Biden was asked to carry too much. We should have won, with more votes, but we can, listen to the Speaker, and we should still win].

My Black family are business people. We have to routinely deal with people that many on DU would simply call racists, the vast majority of those people are not racists, they do harbor regressive views that you have to talk to them about and coach them out of.

It was and is closer than it needed to be. When Trump murmured at one of his rallies that Kamala would never be President a shudder went through me because I knew that his message was being received clearly by even many never-trumpets. This has nothing to do with my personal feelings about Kamala. I was almost hoping that she would not hit the campaign trail because it was a constant reminder of who she is and what her position would be. I love her. She is smart and fearless and that makes "them" fear and hate her. Joe took the chance It's sad but true. If they weren't ready for the most qualified candidate in our lifetime because she was a woman, they are not ready for a black woman to be so close to the Presidency. If Biden wins, it will be by the grace of the universe gods.

Just making a hurtful observation.

Harris is a big reason why I voted for Biden. I was more excited for Harris than Clinton's VP pick. Biden won Arizona and I'm an Arizona voter so give Harris credit for winning Arizona.

It looks like Biden will end up doing slightly better than Hillary Clinton. It is just the way our country is divided right now.
