First, if it holds thank God that Biden prevailed. But I cant help but look at this and find little joy. For one thing is certain, Trumpism is alive and well in America today. There were little to no consequences for the Trump bootlickers in the Senate and it looks like well maintain a narrow lead in the House. Trump needed to be embarrassed for the GOP to return to sanity. Now I fully expect him or one of his kids or someone trying to be him running in 2024. Unfortunately what our country needed, we didnt come close to getting.

(4,588 posts)I had such a distressing sense of deja vu last night, watching DU a and see Florida go down the crapper.
I hardly slept last night. It does appear Biden will prevail by it is so disturbing that people can support Trump given his proven incompetence, failure to lead, divisiveness, lies and all the rest.
It is said his cult members love him because he hates the same groups that they do. It is a sad commentary

(5,939 posts)If that doesn't send a message & convince them they were conned, then a better economy along with a new green job explosion, infrastructure projects galore & more affordable health care should placate them somewhat.

(5,524 posts)I see us taking over a crippled government on the verge of an economic crash in the middle of a health crisis that will continue for the next year. And we have to do it with two hands tied behind our backs since the Senate will block everything and the Supreme Court will undo whatever progress that we have made. And all of that with an ungovernable 40% that will be loud and potentially violent resisters.
It will be a rough couple of years and I fear we will get buried in 2022 midterm. There is no honeymoon.
The only upside is that we will control the Justice Department and can finally find out what the hell Trump has been up to. We know it was dirty. We just don't know whether he was incompetent enough to leave his fingerprints on it.

(9,213 posts)They don't have another wacko that can so brazenly pull it off like Trump could. We won't have to worry about Trump or his kids after this year, they are done. Trump will likely be in such heavy prosecution that he would need a miracle to run again after the SDNY gets through with him. I believe they are holding back quite a bit of stuff on both him and his kids that they didn't want to bring up until he was out of office.
That being said, the Dems need to rethink their strategy and try to reach more of these voters that want a wacky populist. Clinton couldn't reach them, Biden barely reached them....maybe Harris will resonate with them more? I don't know, but we are going to get trounced more in the future until we can figure out how to win some Repubes over to our side.
