My son is trying to keep me positive about the outcome . . . but I keep thinking back to 2000 . . .

what do the likes of Steve Schmidt and Rick Wilson know about what transpired in 2000 and how the Repugs might try to mess with state numbers? Repugs are cherry picking states to stop Biden. Here’s hoping the Biden firewall is strong enough to withstand any attack.

Totally different. Biden doesn't need a recount. He's winning the count. PubliusEnigma Nov 2020 #1

gave it to Bush by a margin small enough to require an automatic machine recount. The machine recount was done, and then Gore requested manual recounts of several counties. It got complicated after that but there was a deadline that had to be met but the Secretary of State could waive it, but at some point Kathryn Harris certified all the results even though not all of the recounting was complete. The whole mess went to court and eventually it got to the Florida Supreme Court, which held that the unfinished recounts could be completed and enjoined Harris from certifying the election and ordered a statewide manual recount. That's when the Supreme Court granted cert and a month after the election stopped the recount for what I think was a disingenuous interpretation of the 14th Amendment. Anyhow it was kind of a one-off thing that clearly doesn't apply to initial vote counts.
