On September 29, the Spanish people surrounded their congress and demanded it step down. The country is 90% in debt (TO WHO!?) and unemployment is 25% or higher (50% for those under 30, via ermasdaughter downthread).

But just previously, they attempted the same thing on September 25.

Youtube comment for the video beneath it:

They were police provocateurs buddy wake upp you see the same later in the video dragging off protesters.

The guys with the dark blue hoodies and red flags are provocateurs 0:06 same as 1:36 only here they drag protesters off to the van to get arested.

And they always in the front rows hitting the cops with the red flag pole to intice agression and give them an excuse to charge its all staged by the cops.

So the police did start the agression.

"Meanwhile, anti-austerity protests rocked the Spanish capital yet again, as demonstrators marched on the country's parliament building and confronted police, leading to at least 64 people being arrested."

Power to kill and maim at the discretion of corporations, banks and the international one percenters. Money and inbred, incestuous power families are at the bottom of all woes on this planet. Solution????? Anyone????????? I didn't think so.

Unfortunately, it works pretty well. 500,000 Americans protested Iraq in NYC before the GOP 2004 convention. The most coverage it got was a live feed on C-SPAN3.

Why would they gamble (and lose btw) by making the demonstrations bigger, hipper, longer lasting, horizontal organized and pointed at Wall Street ?!

There were follow up anniversary Demonstrations on the anniversary of Iraq Invasion every year across the country but because United for Peace and Justice and A.N.S.W.E.R. got the permits and and the podium the MSM and even the Dem Blogs got turned off and started dissing the protesters as "radicals."

Tue Oct 2, 2012, 01:03 PM

would be listened to because that's what we believed our Governments were supposed to do.

It was the first wake up call that "peaceful protests" would be ignored. No one at the time thought that they would need to do an economic strike or "free market" interruption. There were petitions delivered to the United Nations. I signed a huge one that was here on DU and the thousands and thousands of signatures in boxes were delivered to UN by Peace Activists.

Now with the economic implosion caused by Banking Deregulation that brought our Western economies to it's knees requiring bail outs of Wall Street Banksters in cahoots with European Banks due to Deregulation of the Multi-national banks it's an Economic Crisis along with endless Wars adding to the distress.

There will be more demonstrations because ordinary people who've had to pay for these Bail Outs and Endless Wars for resources to benefit our large Multi-National Companies and Banks have had enough. The Demonstrations against the Invasions should have been a wake up call that was a warning of what was to come.

That's my thinking on it.

Seems like you've been hoodwinked by MSM disinfo.

Here, Mother Jones has the real scoop. Micah White over at AdBusters may have helped name it, true, but the real genesis of the movement lies farther back than you might think(hint: there was something called the New York General Assembly):

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2011/10/occupy-wall-street-international-origins?page=2

Mother Jones is a genuine left-leaning paper and has a significant amount of credibility, so hopefully you can reconsider your opinions here.

thread, you will not hear about it in the mainstream media because it directly contradicts what the six or so corporations who own the media want. Same thing as revolution in Spain, Portugal, Greece: out of sight, out of mind.

I'm an Occupier and we're still going strong. On DU, there are those who are outright against it, believing staying within the reform system to be the answer, and they will fight OWS posts in GD etc., so several of us stick to the Occupy Underground sub-forum. Click Topics, Activism, Occupy Underground:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1252

Trust me, much is occurring which you will very rarely hear about in the "media". There are plenty of twitter and facebook channels which will bring you the real news. Because the situation is still the same, and the real issues such as the military industrial complex, wall street reform and punishment, foreclosure moratorium because they've known about illegal robosigning and outright fraud for at least two years, one trillion dollars in student loan debt (and news that the Quebec students just won their 100+ day protest and are now mobilizing to take their struggle all the way against the corrupt Harper regime) are simply not on the ballot.

Is the US media screaming about these things? Same reason you're not hearing about Occupy:

International Media and Newspapers. You can even get the info from "Democracy Now" and the excellent reporting about OWS over at DISSENTER on Firedoglake and for the real Financial News go to our own DU's "Stock Market Watch" group where there are articles all in one place but from many sources showing what is really going on in our markets here and abroad.

The news is out there for "inquiring minds" who seek it. But, it takes time and effort and it's good to see DU'ers in this thread posting the info that isn't reported by our Corporate MSM here.

We do all the work, and are in debt to a small minority of financial psychopaths (aka Economic Royalty) who never worked an honest day in their miserable fucking lives.

And that's an issue that conservative democrats and republicans alike, will never address.

Meanwhile here in the USA, the best solution we the sheepeople can come up with, is argue over which is better, being hung by a blue rope or a red rope.
