If professional athletes make vague and baseless claims that the game wasn't fair

they are considered unsportsmanlike. And they know they are role models and that millions of kids are watching their behavior.

Unfortunately politicians do not have to meet any standards, they can make vague and baseless accusations against everyone just because they can't accept losing. There are no penalties except losing your job.
