There is an awful lot of desperation to keep Trump in the WH.

Aside from the obvious power loss for the GOP, there is possibly much more at stake.

I believe that a lot of people will fall without the Trump administration to protect against investigations.

I believe that a lot of scandals will drop soon after Trump's removal from office.

I think they do this stuff out of their own self-interest and greed. Everyone seems to assume that someone has something on them for them to act this way, but I think they're mostly just soulless, power-hungry assholes.

but to go from thoroughly trashing Trump to going overboard kissing his ass? I'm thinking something else.

He needed a new hero. I'm not sure it's any more complicated than that.

Could be something else, certainly, but I think he morphs to whatever his "hero" wants, whether it's McCain or Trump. Trump wasn't going to accept him unless he did and said exactly what Trump wanted. I think he's so desperate to have that relationship that he did whatever it took. Of course, Trump trashed him anyway, but a lot of abusive relationships work in a similar fashion.

At my age (over 70) I have a shorter fuse for gratification, so hurry up with those indictments, investigations, perp walks, and actual prison terms! And the movie! Dammit.

Most don't like him, they are just afraid of him and the zealots. Once Trump loses power, they will slowly start pretending they never really supported him.

That's why reasoning with most Trump supporters seemed to almost never work. They weren't blind to Trump's vileness.

When Trump's supporters are compared to Nazis, it's not an exaggeration. The problem is that people think that Nazis were some type of different breed of human, when they were regular people just like you and I. Once you start trading ethics for power, you can go down some very dark paths.
