My mom is in the cult and I nearly stopped speaking to her.

Mom do you support the abuse of women, no, You support Trump
Mom do you support separating parents from children, no, You support Trump
Mom do you support cheating on your taxes, no, You support Trump
Mom do you support people making fun of people with disabilities (her nephew, my cousin the sweetest kid ever) no, you support Trump
Mom do you support the LGBTQ community (She does ) Yes, well Trump does not and you support trump
Mom do you support Health insurance for people with pre existing conditions (she has a ton) Yes I do proudly, Trump does not and you support Trump

I could go all day, but you get the picture

The machines didn't help with what they were intended to provide.
They were supposed to make compiling the vote faster, but we're in the 4th day and votes are still being counted.
Somehow, with no immediate results, the earth is still turning on its axis.
We don't need the machines. Toss them out.

With Trump gone there won’t be as much incentive to show up at the polls. Many are more loyal to Trump than the Republican Party, which could be a problem for them.

Things could get interesting if McConnell stays Senate Leader and gets on Trump’s shit list.

I think there was systemic error caused by touch screen voting machines in Republican-controlled states. Let's say that one in every 33 ballots were flipped from Democrat to Republican internally. That would account for a 3-4% increase in apparent Republican voter count. It's still too high, but this would be consistent with what you saw in polls. I suspect that this has been in place for years now.

A nation can't keep existing being so divided like this, people with such radically different ideas of how a society should work won't coexist peacefully anymore. Trump's presidency was finally the point of no return.

I've long expected a realignment of the US political system and Trump has hastened the transition. Most of the never Trumpers who also were anti GOP will never have any other viable option to vote for but Dems. The sane Republicans need to realize they've lost control of their party to right wing cultists even after Trump loses.

going to be traumatic -- for some Whites.

The Whites no longer have a default superiority which means several things: More Non-Whites living in white neighborhoods. More Non-Whites as mayor and council. More Non-Whites as employers (who have the power to fire Whites). More Non-Whites more prevalent in White families.

Society is changing and it can't be reversed or neutralized. This is not South Africa 30 years ago with apartheid.

Easy Peazy! I'm joking, but just slightly. Rural America has been sold such a caricature of Democrats. Why do you think Trump kept talking about toilets, dishwashers and they are coming to take your cows away? We laughed, but that shit works because the ground work has been laid for years from AM radio, Fox and now the internet. I live in a rural county in Texas that went 77% Trump in 2020. There are things that are brought up on DU that make me cringe because I know it is such a hot button issue with rural voters and most urban/suburban people don't even realize it. This issue is cultural. A lot of trump supporters are not evil/racist people. I just think they are ignorant. I am an electrical engineer and I installed solar at my house. I have convinced many skeptical people that renewables are economical. They get a little jealous when I tell them pay off period/savings and how my future Power Wall II will provide backup power during a hurricane. I have actually helped other do it yourself trump supporters install solar and helped with the interconnection agreements. They now have people looking at their systems and I get calls if I could help them. If I had started talking to them about CO2 and feedback loops and global warming they would have closed their minds. They have been programmed. I can't explain it.

is doing. I don't believe 47.7% of the country voted for the pig because they just liked the pig. I'd guess it's more like 25-30% that are racists and selfish really liked the pig. I don't know the answer to winning over the others, but that 15-20% is probably the opportunity band if we can figure out some ways of breaking through. Finding ways to get truth out to them might go a long way though. They have a lot of false beliefs.
