The GOP failed Trump and his minions. They are the 'all or nothing' type of voter.
The Trumpies could start thier own political party.
The Dems got started when the Whigs wigged out.
The GOP got started when no party supported abolition.
So why not let the fringe far right start thier own party?
If they can figure out how to play within the Federal & State Election rules & procedures, and that is a big "if".

(639 posts)I was doing two things at once, and knew they ended when the GOP started.
I had TV on and might have written Dems, while hearing that word and thinking Civil War GOPs.

(980 posts)Most democracies in the world have many more than two parties. It nearly guarantees that one single party will not prevail, and that there must be a coalition of parties whose tenets might be totally different from one another.

(13,094 posts)Democrats were here long before. They arose from the Democratic-Republican Party.
They were the opposition to the Whigs during the Whigs entire run.

(5,125 posts)OR those who want the R the way it used to be, WALK away from it and become Libertarians.
Probably just leave the big red R stain on the sidewalk and embrace survival of the fittest and business first up front.

(14,564 posts)No, they won't start a new party. They easier path is to continue to own the republican party.
SO ... IF we can root his POS ass out of the white house, he will declare his intent to run as a republican in 2024 almost immediately, then do what he did for 8 years with being the ring leader of the birther movement to lead the resistance to JOE.
Make no mistake, right now the overwhelming majority of republicans are full on 45 acolytes. SO, they will hang on his every word. You will see some weak attempts by the party establishment to try to break from him, but it will go the way it went during the 2016 primary, some big words at times, no real action, then endless scumbags like Graham and Cruz who talked a big game kneeling and kissing his ring.
NOW, all of this is likely to hurt them in the 2022 mid terms ...
BUT, he will win the republican nomination and he WILL have a similar turnout for him in 2024 as he had Tuesday.
NOW, he could die or have health issues, or there is that fantastical chance that somehow justice prevails and he is dealt with for all the illegal things he has done, but minus these occurring this is likely what will happen.
NO, he won't try to pass it off to one of his grifting POS spawn, he is FAR too much of raging egomaniac to cede anything to anyone, even his blood.

(7,773 posts)...likely in poorer health, far more addlepated, a convicted felon, and possibly far less rich (unless he starts TrumpTV with Burnett).
He will want to run, but he will have a lot of younger competition using his "TrumpMagic" model AND he will be a loser.
I say go for it Donnie!
he is 74 NOW, a pussy grabbing, barely coherent fucking Russian asset and 75 million people voted for him and one tweet away from fucking killing people for him ...

(42,862 posts)Of course I absolutely HATE the idea when "progressives" try to promote their third-party choices here (ie: Greens, Working Family, and other "justice" or "Revolution" orgs.)
But when it comes to the GOP having their own vote-splitters and saboteurs and malcontents breaking-off to form their own lunatic fringe wacko conspiracy-theory party... I'll give an enthusiastic YES to that idea.
All I'm saying is... when they're harming themselves, just remain silent and let them.

(1,442 posts)No, the plutocrats, and their corporations, who overwhelmingly fund the Republican Party would never waste their money on a new Trumpist party. Why would they even consider doing so, when they currently outright own the existing, powerful Republican Party?
Or, to think about it another way, of what benefit would a new Trumpist Party be to Rupert Murdoch? And, for that matter, of what benefit would even a new Trumpist media corporation be to Rupert Murdoch?

(54,379 posts)Though it would be nice to split the Republican Party in two, there is a real danger of the crazy wing becoming successful. Instead of the NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter Partei), we could end up with a NCALP (National Capitalist American Lunatic Party). They could call themselves "Nashies" from the first two syllables of the long name, just like the old German NSDAP did ("National" in German is pronounced Nah-tsee-oh-nahl).
