Am I understanding this wrong

both Nevada and even Pennsylvania have 10s of thousands of ballots that could take another week to count, or more...I mean we are only getting several thousand a day.

So my question is, based on the criteria expressed by MSNBC, it could be another week or more before they are willing to make a call on Pennsylvania or Nevada. Is that not true?

Could reach 35k before the end of the day or certainly by the weekend at worst. That will lead to a call.

At only 2 reports a day, roughly 10k to 15k a day, we are talking at least another 4 days minimum until you can be assured of a mathematical superiority for Biden to be called the winner.

I mean it is what it is but people will go nuts waiting for almost another week to get a call.

They can make calls all they want; we can accept their calls if we want.

AP has apparently been the 'best' and most accepted source for some time.

but it is what everything hinges on.

The Nevada Register stated they would be releasing count just twice a day. That makes me think that this process will take a very long time.

They are projections and people listen to them because they want to know the results.

The actual certified results won't happen for another week to MONTH (yes MONTH) as the process and time varies by state. If you want nothing prevents you from just tuning out and ignoring all the networks (and website, and forums) for the next month and wait until the 50th state certifies its results.

Now perhaps it's the fact that this weird mail-in vs. election day voting isn't a trend decision desks have had to deal with before, so they just don't want to factor that in. But the trends are pretty clear now. Trump simply can't close his shortfalls in GA, NV, AZ, or PA with the outstanding vote and with clearly observable trends about that outstanding vote.

The math is never so conservative that forecasters say, oh, Candidate A leads by 10,000 votes, but there are 10,001 votes outstanding, so just in case 100% of the outstanding vote goes for Candidate B, we won't call the race yet.

the Secretary of state here in Nevada is a flaming Tea Bagger tied to the Laxalt-McDonald-hard Right GOP. She is the only Elected Office holder in the State Government that is not Dem,and she is trying to position herself for 2024 reelection or Senatorial or Congressional office.

The foot dragging is coming directly from DC.

GA has VERY LITTLE left

NV has maybe 100k left but the provisional ballots (60k) will take time as they match up to voter records

All of these are reasons why states don't certify their final totals until weeks after the election

but that hasn't been the case today for sure.

At only ~20k a day (120k more ballots/20k processed a day is at least 3 more days for a call in NV) a day from places like NV or AZ and not much more from Philly, it could be at least Sunday or Monday until networks are willing to make a call.
