Yeah, I know, big Latinx vote for Trump.
But look at how close the last two elections were in that State.
Look at nearby more conservative Georgia and North Carolina.
They are neck and neck there, but in Florida Trump wins by 400,000?
Doesn't pass the smell test.
Oh yeah, they also have a corrupt, cheating Governor.

(5,557 posts)We're seeing it in the house races too, we lost potentially every tossup this time around and some seats where we were favored.
Big disappointments with trying to take state legislatures too. In PA we even had a few Dems lose statewide races.
Same for Collins in Maine, would have been toast in 2018.

(33,643 posts)And Trump's share of the increased turnout was ridiculously high, like 90%+
At least according to some numbers someone posted on DU, haven't verified for myself.
I also do NOT trust FL.

Biden/Harris will win without Florida. But they'll govern without prejudice, unlike Il Douche.

(34,444 posts)Than Clintons but Trumps increased even more. Maybe the big GOP donors outspent him.
If the numbers are valid I wonder if any of it can be accounted for by a change in the people moving there. For example, liberal and moderate retirees may be choosing to go to GA, NC, VA coast, the Southwest, or to stay put, rather than move to FL.

(552 posts)Thousands of ballots are sitting at post offices in Florida, undelivered so uncounted.
And it's not just the governor, our chief elections officer is a shady Trumpster too : Secretary of State Laurel Lee.

(1,850 posts)Even though Florida is quite red, full of old white people, rednecks, proud Cubans and other cult 45 members, the numbers seem off to me too. And not just Florida, but several states.
I find Kentucky results very suspicious too.

(16,926 posts)Until we figure out a way to investigate it, we're screwed! Other states as well. The people living in THESE states need to figure it out, and we maybe can help financially? Hard to investigate living OUTSIDE these states!

(16,844 posts)They do all sorts of dirty shit in Florida to sabotage Democrats. They've been doing it at least as long as the days when Jeb Bush was Governor and he had that crooked Sec. Of State in 2000. They purge voter rolls all the time and they're very strict about not letting felons vote. I wrote off Florida before the election. I knew Trump and Limbaugh and all the rest of those transplanted Floridians weren't going to let Joe Biden have it.

(6,589 posts)I had another post about seeing 11 Biden signs along a route where I saw 1 Clinton sign in 2016. Before the election that got up to 23 signs, I couldn't believe it, there weren't that many Trump signs.
I haven't compared total FL votes for Trump 2016 vs 2020, but I can't believe there would be a lot more in 2020. They hated Clinton & were motivated to vote against her 8n 2016. This year, there were a bunch of Republicans in my neighborhood who were voting Biden (per my Republican neighbors).

(1,366 posts)Florida that are typical "blue" -Miami-Dade/Broward -are under assault from something more sinister- Global Warming and sea-level rise. This will mean that we can expect some type of migration from that area. Where will they go? Will they just leave the state to the "crazies" or just concentrate more inland or a little more north?

(10,893 posts)who worked down in the Miami area explain it to me earlier today. Basically, 45 had been working South Florida Latinos up into an anti-socialist lather, painting Biden and other Dems as socialists (despite the clear evidence to the contrary). Secondly, the social media environment is filled with disinformation aimed at Dems.
While it's true Biden's Latino outreach wasn't as strong as prior Dem campaigns and came too late, it sounds like the whole environment there has grown more toxic towards Dems. The "riot" fear mongering and "law and order" slogan from the GOP have been amazingly effective there.

(4,386 posts)26.5% supposedly voted for DT in 2016 and his support was supposed to be reduced. So how do we change the system down there? I know I only vote absentee in person because I don't trust anything else. What we need to push for are voting reforms. They have to be a priority. This has got to be done at a federal level.
