7. Back in 2000 I recall seeing a LOT of complaints from people on voting machines

that it visibly changed their vote. And invariably the changes were from the D candidate to the R one. Never the other way around. I wonder if the people engineering this haven't simply gotten a lot better at making sure the change doesn't show up so the voter can see it.
