Dear Martha
The sun hath arisen upon day 5 of our struggles here at Fort Margin. Lt Col Williams has ceaselessly worked to keep up spirits and tune our focus to the battle. Corporals Melber and Velshi suffered near mortal wounds but have recovered and are back at their stations. Recent recruit Private Steele has provided well-needed nourishment for the soul.
Meanwhile, Sgts Wallace and Reid have worked tirelessly to maintain order.
Capt Kornacki has been an unstoppable source of energy and encouragement. His battle plans would have destroyed Napoleon before he could have hereby claimed Prussia. I have not seen the man sleep yet and I do not know how his uniform remains kempt, in light of the lack of laundry facilities
Rations have been holding out but not for much longer. We hold strong and hard with hope that the battle will soon be called. There are only a few hundred of the enemy left, up against our 75 million-strong army. These are some hardy souls we fight.
I must go now, dearest. Young Soboroff has just arrived with another dispatch.
With dearest love
