campaigned with the safety of the people in mind, with masks and social distancing etc., while trump and company recklessly ignored peoples safety, and the Democrats lost the personal touch that campaigning usually has.
In spite of that it is nothing short of remarkable what the Democrats accomplished. We flipped two Senate seats, with a chance to get get two more senate seats, re-elected the Governor in NC, and won the WH. Add to that the overt attempt by the republicans to suppress the vote throughout the country, along with corruption of the USPS and other devious tactics, we have done remarkably well under the circumstances.
It should be no surprise that the record number of COVID cases that are occurring can be laid directly at the feet of trump and his reckless campaigning. How many will end up in the hospital or die as a direct result of this, we may never know, but I wonder if those who have been affected by this believe it was worth it.

(18,672 posts)Im glad he lost Erie county. My grandma was so disturbed seeing people so close to where her town is recklessly gathering like that.

(17,863 posts)but some of the Senate races were lost by decisions the candidate, campaign, or the party/primary voters made.
1. Cunningham not keeping it in his pants
2. Iowa running a lightweight for Senate instead of a slam dunk candidate (Admiral Franken)
Collins just floors me though. The only conclusion you can come to is that Maine likes those SC Justices.

(11,519 posts)Less door knocking, less overall ground game probably cost us votes. When this election is dissected I believe that much of our losses in Florida, for instance, can be attributed to not ignoring science.
