(8,285 posts)When we won in 2018, the story was why didnt Democrats win by more and is this really a wave? You didnt take the senate.
Now, the story is how Republicans did so well even though Biden won the presidency... because they somehow held on to seats in ruby red states and districts?????
We didnt oust Mitch McConnell because he won in red ass Kentucky. We didnt take Lindsey Graham out because he won in red ass South Carolina. We didnt take gerrymandered red-biased state legislative seats in Texas. We lost seats in the House that happened to be gerrymandered in their favor.
The story everyones going with is that WE LOST and fail to mention that ITS A RIGGED GAME IN THEIR FAVOR!
Give me a break!!!

(8,285 posts)How we lost to Mitch McConnell in ruby red Kentucky?
Why didnt we win in Georgia? (Even though Georgia still has a slight Republican bias)
Look at how Lindsey Graham retained his seat in red ass South Carolina?
How Democrats lost gerrymandered state legislature races in Texas?
Blah blah blah. We can never catch a break!
Its always about how we lost, and how we could have done better... even when we win.

(129,503 posts)Because they had been so used to their RW bent that they automatically started on the "Why didn't the Democrats do...? " "Why didn't the Democrats realize...?" "Why did the Democrats lose...?"
It's their default position.
And when they are called out on their NOT hyper-analyzing why the GOP LOST, they get defensive and knee-jerk react with - "Well you know the GOP had a 'higher turnout' than 2016", which completely ignores the question and proffers a non-answer, even when you point out that not only did Democrats have a "higher turnout", but they had many millions MORE of one than the GOP.

(100,104 posts)1. It's the fact that Trump voters embraced the worst parts of humanity - all the racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophobia that propelled and enabled Trump to do some despicable things to our country.
2. Trump's mean spirited, abusive nature was a factor. His vileness, rudeness, name calling all contributed.
3. Trump's botched handling of COVID that caused the worst pandemic in a century.
Among many other things.

(3,503 posts)say that 71M voters supported Trump so their "concerns" about the election shouldn't be dismissed. Never mind the +75M (and counting) people who voted for Biden, they should be patient and wait. F them and the high horse they rode in on. Democrats have had to swallow 2 elections in which they had more votes than Republicans and were told to just "accept" the results for the good of the country.
