You could not argue a point of sensibility with them.

Defund the police was indeed an extremist & divisive meme pushed by the same group that runs opposite to everything unifying & reasonable.

It was a stupid thing to do.

It hurt us in congressional and state assembly races here in NY.

No one is blaming the Democrats who lost their races because they got saddled with a narrative that Republicans seized upon to define our party.

but it is after clicking through a few pages. It's also after a clear explanation of the support for diverting some of the police budget to people-issues.

She really should change the term there, and go with "de-militarize". Because that's the actual problem with most police departments.

Nov 2020

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said New York City’s proposed $1 billion cut from the police department budget tiptoes around demands from activists who are asking for a reduced police presence.

Though the plan proposed by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) cuts one-sixth of the New York Police Department (NYPD) budget, activists note that much of it would be transferred to other city departments, including the Department of Education, where it could pay for police in schools. Activists have advocated for removing officers from schools altogether.

“Defunding police means defunding police,” the congresswoman said in a statement. “It does not mean budget tricks or funny math. It does not mean moving school police officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Education’s budget so the exact same police remain in schools.”

snip==========================================================================================

Ocasio-Cortez said that cutting the police budget is not effective if it does not result in the reduced presence of law enforcement.

“It does not mean counting overtime cuts as cuts, even as NYPD ignores every attempt by City Council to curb overtime spending and overspends on overtime anyways,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “If these reports are accurate, then these proposed ‘cuts’ to the NYPD budget are a disingenuous illusion. This is not a victory. The fight to defund policing continues.”

We're lucky we didn't lose more seats because of their screeches of revoluuuushion

Their entire schtick is division of the Democratic moderate center.

This actually falls in line with the ideology of Cenk, Sirota & those who orginated the JD's.

I have no idea wtf they really want anymore.
Except to divide the Dem Party.
And what they propose in its place is a weakening of our Democratic Republic.

Ask the Republucan Party how well the Tea Party turned out for them. 3rd party extremism is the unbalancing of a government. So Gtfoh

A Moderate Center is the only way to govern a fair & just society.

Defund the police was a stupid social media meme, meant to divide & harm.

It was like Hillary calling Trump supporters "deplorables." I understand "defund the police" to mean "reallocate a portion of public resources from enforcement to prevention." That's too subtle a concept to turn into a chant, however, so we're handing the Repugs a weapon to use against us.

There is a pandemic and its concomitant complexities to deal with, and there was an election to win.

I've never heard of the Shorefront News, but one thing seems clear: they certainly wanted to Rose vote against impeachment, but he was too "weak" to act in his own self interest! He is in the clutches of Speaker Pelosi!

Rose was one of the last Democratic holdouts during impeachment, going so far as to pen an op-ed in opposition to it. Yet, he proved not strong enough to stand up to his party leadership even when it was obviously against his interest to impeach the President.

Had Rose taken a stance and voted against impeachment, he would’ve been a shoe-in today. He didn’t, choosing instead to go on MSNBC to attack the President’s “very clear obstruction” and now despite being an incumbent, he finds himself in the position of an underdog trying to claw back.

snip================================================================

But while speaking out in favor of the President on the campaign trail [by trolling Trump's twitter to remind him of what Malliotakis said about him in the past], on issues that matter, such as the recent Supreme Court nomination, Rose continued do whatever Nancy Pelosi says.

The full stories at the embedded links are worth reading for context and a fuller understanding of Rose's record, challenges. as well as for some insight into the journalistic integrity of a source that spins a Republican narrative out of decontextualized whole cloth.

The Man Behind the Mysterious ‘News’ Website Revealed
SHEEPSHEAD BAY — A mysterious website that sprang up a few weeks ago “reporting” on Southern Brooklyn belongs to former State Sen. David Storobin, Bklyner has learned.

snip=============================================================================================

The site features a mix of community and politics stories, like the one that read “sources” revealed former City Councilman Mike Nelson is running for the 48th council seat.

He’s not running, according to Nelson.

There are no bylines. When asked why the site doesn’t name their reporters, Storobin responded, “No reason.”

snip========================================================================================

Storobin, a Republican, was elected state senator after ex-lawmaker Carl Kruger resigned behind bribery charges. The longtime Brooklynite by way of Russia and then Dallas defeated Lewis Fidler by 16 votes in a close 2012 race. After serving in session for 11 days, Storobin was fazed out of his seat because of redistricting. He late made two unsuccessful bids against State Sen. Felder and another against City Councilman Chaim Deutsch.

snip============================================================================================

I’m not a professional journalist, I’m like a guy with an opinion,” he said.

is always bad-mouthing him doesn't count as slamming his opponent for hating President Trump.

Using a Tea Party Republican's website and then pivoting to decontextualized, highly misleading Republican attack ads in an effort to tar a sitting Democrat is troubling at best.

“Party and politics will never come before the country I bled to protect—and would unquestionably do so again,” said Rose.

47. According to the anti-Rose Tea Party talking points that were posted
Mon Nov 9, 2020, 12:30 PM
Nov 2020

and then deleted, all Max Rose had to do to win re-election was to vote against impeachment and keep his mouth shut about Amy Coney Barrett. Democrat Max Rose did neither.

Max Rose did let his constituents know that he stood with Trump when he announced that an Iranian terrorist had been killed and when he signed a proclamation condemning antisemitism on college campuses.

The stands against terrorism, antisemitism, and Amy Coney Barrett and in favor of impeachment were all instances where Rose put principle above personal ambition and or purely partisan gamesmanship. Wanting to distance himself from democraticsocialists and distinguish himself as a Democrat who listens to and respects his constituents is not "running a terrible campaign".

When "analysis" includes Tea Party sources that misrepresent or ignore the context and totality of statements or a record, the conclusions are bound to be dubious, however often partial "facts" are repeated or from whatever source they are being lifted and decontextualized. Adopting and amplifying the extreme right wing framing of any Democrat's record is a Republican game.

Caveat lector.
