They thought they would win, but now they have to start covering their tracks, and getting rid of any paper trail. It won't work, and when the investigations start, they will be exposed for what they did.

Maybe it is a delaying tactic to run out the clock until certification of state vote counts -- Their strategy discourages investigations of ballot count obstruction and vote tampering in suspicious states. It would not help the current situation for Biden legal eagles to start looking into vote tampering that prevented some house democratic candidates from victory.
